Well, we sat down last night to start putting my LED hoop from ProdMod together. I got the AA battery core so we set about attaching 7 LEDs to the wire to test (any less and the LEDs would be burned out apparently) but none of them would light up. We've got them wrapped around the wire correctly, the wire's not crushed, I don't know what's going on.

Do I just need to do all of the wiring listed on the AA battery core instructions?

Any ideas?

Anybody? :\
I got one of these kits about a year ago when they first came out. I got the rechargeable battery tho. I had a HECk of a time with this project! After finally getting all the led's & resistors wired up in parallel like the directions listed, it worked for about 2 minutes. then apparently all the resistors burnt up & it wouldn't light again. Ever. However, communications with the company was great so if you have any questions about the project, your best bet is to contact them. If you haven't done that already. They appreciate the questions/feedback as it helps them to better formulate their directions & modifications in the future. Btw, I never did finish the project...I got fed up & finally ordered a ready made led hoop from www.ledheadyhoops.com
Best of luck!
Yeah I fiddled around for about two hours last night trying to get the damn thing to work and didn't even get a flicker. I think my problem is somewhere in the step to attach the LEDs and testing them, but I'm not sure. Thanks for sharing your experience :) I've sent a message to the guy who runs ProdMod, but I don't think I'm gonna hear anything back till the end of the month since he's out of town apparently.
yes ive had so many problems and its still not complete! At first I couldnt get them to light because you have to attach the orange to the red and the green to the black and then to the led because that little thing gives it more power. I got mine to work for a few seconds but never again. I've probably put 9 hours into it after the first one completely broke, waited for new wire started all over and did it again and they won't light. idk. I hope you have better luck than me!
My dad and I just did my prodmod led last week and it took us three hours. We tested each LED with the rechangreable battery after each LED was attached and sodered, that way we would know which LED was causing the problem. Make sure all of your "long ends" of your LED's are on the positive side and the short ends on the negative side. Best of luck, hope it works out!
did you ever get it to work?

Hello!

I am trying to make an LED hula hoop for the first time! And it is very complicated, (at least I think so :)

If anyone can answer my question I would be super greatful!

(Please note, my language when discussing this may be off a little, I'm not technical)

I am wondering about forward currents of LEDs.  I have some LEDS with a Forward current of 3.5-4.5V

What type of battery system will work with these LEDs?  I am having a hard time figuring out the correlation between LED Voltage and start Voltage.

Plus, if you string together LEDS with different voltages, will this affect the longevity of the battery power?
I.E. if I have 12 3.5-4.5 V LEDs and 12 2.4V LEDs will this affect the batteries life-time?

Thanks!! Happy Huuuupping.
