Are you a professional hooper? As hooping becomes more popular and more people begin to work in this industry professionally it is important that everyone understands the value in a name and the publicity and associations that are connected to that name. Follow the information below to search Hoop City to confirm no one else is already using the name you're planning to use. You may also want to search Hooping.org's Names Directory and do a Google search on your potential business name.

How do I find out if someone is already using a name?

Below is a search feature that will include every member of Hoop City. Search for the name you've thought of to see if it's already in use. Often when companies trademark a name they put a TM symbol at the end of the name. On Hoop City we'll use an asterix * at the end to signify a name being used for performance or business. It is also recommended to search for any slight variations to that name. Example: Revolva and Revolver are very close and you may not want your name to be so close to another hooper's. You want something that is unique and will stand out as your own. Once you have chosen your new name, please read below to find out how to add yourself to the directory.

How do I register my hoop performance name?

Click on the link below, it will take you to My Settings. Look for the text box for Full Name. Type in your First Name Hoop Name* and Last Name. If you are not interested in including your last name simply put First Name Hoop Name*. It is preferred to include you first name (given name) but if you would like to only be referred to by your hoop name please write it with an asterix to signify that you will be using it for performance or hoop related business. Example: Hoopaloopdidoop*
Being listed on Hoop City does not legally entitle you to the name but does allow you to announce your name so others can be aware that the name is already taken.

Please note it may take 24 hours for your changes to come into effect.

How do I register my hooping business or hoop troupe?

If you have a hooping business or hoop troupe that has a very different name than your performance name you may wish to create a separate Hoop City profile for your business. Example: Pixie Hoops* has a company profile and then each of the girls have their own personal profiles. While Christabel of HoopGirl* has herself and the business all in one profile. If you have a stage name and a company name you can star both. For Example: For something simpler try using Hoop Name* of Company Name* like Hoopalicious* of HoopRevolution*. Choose what ever system works best for you and your company. Please note that sadly we can only use up to 32 characters for our names so using the simplified version may be the only option for some hoopers and their businesses.
