Proper Tubing O.D. and hoop sizes for 9-10 year old girls?

I am teaching 3 hoop classes to entering 5th grade girls at a local school's music camp. I mostly teach adults so I don't have many children sized hoops. I am concerned some tubing is too heavy and my cause them to get bruises. I need the tubing to be heavy enough to learn beginner moves on but I don't want them to get hurt if a hoop goes flying towards them.

This is a non-profit school fully funded by donations so, even though the school will be funding the making of these hoops I do want to keep the price to a minimum. The school will also keep the hoops so they need to last. I'll be making all 25-30 hoops so I want it to count. :)

I'm super excited about teaching these girls! I visited the school today and they were all so well behaved and even gave me a tour of the place. :D Any thoughts on ways and materials to build safe/durable, cost and time efficient children's hoops would be greatly appreciated. :)

For older kids I use hoops between 35-38" in diameter, 3/4" 100psi, or 1/2" 125psi. They always seem to be good for a lot of different sized children. For smaller kids (6-8) I use about 32-35" 1/2" 125psi.

I second this! When in public I always have extra in case you know- somebody wants to hoop! But kids around that age always seem to favor the 100psi 35-38ish range. 7 and under seem to go for the 1/2" ones.

Awesome! thank you!
