I put my hair in a hat my first time. I was nervous but as soon as I lit up it all went away and I was completely alone even though I was surrounded by people, it was just me and the flame. Try not to be too scared, just open yourself up to the experience and the flame :)

(I had experience with fire poi before fire hoop so that may also explain why i wasn't as scared of the fire and noise)

I did it! The noise is amazing! I didn't wear a hat but I mainly focused on hand hoop in a vertical plane, waist hooping and the vortex. I want to try neck hooping and that one move were you duck your head out and it stays on your shoulder. THAT I might wear a hat for.
