I have been fire hooping for more than a year and I am interested in performing! I know there are fire regulations and laws also insurance requirements, My question is how do I get licensed in my area or not too far away? I live in western NY. There are a couple local fire crews but I kinda want to do my own thing is that possible to do. My goal is to be fire ready by January...

go to this site http://nafaa.org/fire_ins.html, it's the website of North American Fire Arts Association. It has a list of companies you can buy fire insurance from. The top of the list is a company in new york, ny. Even if you buy fire insurance you still have to figure out your areas fire regulations. They can be found online or you can visit your local fire official. I think it's easier to become friends with fire performers from your area and ask them what hoops they had to jump through to get where they are now.
lol mine cost $125 for a year of coverage. Depending on the company you can get insurance for just 6 months or if you just need an event covered for a couple of days.
I am wondering does this insurance cover from state to state like any where in the US? I know each state must have dif laws. Actually I am also wondering do the laws change by county and will I have to get my performances aproved by local fire marshals in every diff town?

Thanks so much I was trying to get more info about the legalities from some more local performers but they seemed like they wanted me to join thier crew and they are based 2 hours away from me so I am not really interested in that. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings, but I would be happy to work with them :) Thanks so much for the link!

Don't let that get in your way, you will be surprised by the opportunities that will open up to you being able to work with experienced performers. I work with a fire performer that lives 3 hours away. When we are booked for major festivals he always joins us.
I would love to be able to work with them on occation but I have 4 kids and it is sometimes difficult for me. I would prefer to be able to make my own schedule and do alot of work independently or even have a group of my own but I am kinda afraid to tell them I plan to start my own group. I am not trying to step on any toes, I see many opportunities in my area and the groups I have seen only really come around once a year at a local festival! I would not want to take that gig or anything actually I would love to work with them and get to meet some new fire friends they seem like a really cool down to earth group! Does anyone have suggestion on how I should approach them. It seems like they are working hard to expand and I feel rude by telling them I want my own group...
