I have what I call a ghetto rope dart.. it's a length of cord, maybe eight or nine feet long, attached to a chain pivot that I hook to one of my LED poi. I have no idea how to use it, no instruction in martial arts, but I like whipping the thing around like an idiot outside :3 I'm a bit of a twit.
Beyond that no. I saw a few rope darts being used at Lakes of Fire, but I don't actually know the people by name.

My friends dabble in it a bit. All my friends got obsessed awhile ago then they seemed to have lost interest. I think because of the amount of space needed to play with it and the fact that it hurts really bad when you hit yourself. I've messed around with a rope dart a few times and I was suprised with how much fun it was though! I doubt I'll be playing with a rope dart anytime soon considering the winter weather and rain here though :(

Ya I've busted myself up pretty good with it a couple times. Mostly the shins. I hit myself so hard there once it put me on the ground & I thought I was going to vomit. Brutal. I still love it though. I'm really nervous to light it up. I do a lot of neck wraps where if you mess up it comes right for your head & face.

yeah luckily I have not hit myself too badly with a rope dart. But I did have to watch my friends play with one near my car and that was sketchhyyyy.My friend immediatly got a fire rope dart and lit it up after only practicing for like 2 weeks I think! It was a little bit sketch I think but mostly things have gone well with not too much incident once he lit his pants on fire but I think that was just a matter of the wrong material of pants. I've seen some other people light up with the rope dart and only do really "safe" moves with it. I also saw some guy with a rope dart being a little scary with it on fire being way too close to people :/
But I have to say rope dart with fire looks badass.......actually rope dart in general just looks badass :)

I know a few people who spin rope dart and I've had a go myself and can do a few things. One of my friends is AMAZING at it.

I got mine from homeofpoi.com.

I got a practice one and the actual fire dart & the only thing that sucked about the fire dart was when I took it outside to try it just to swing it around to see how it felt the chain at the end snapped really easily.  I replaced it with a length of chain that I had already & it was fine after that but if that thing would have been lit I would have sent a flaming ball flying at someone probably.  The practice one was 20$ & it's just white nylon rope & the fire dart is kevlar & was 70 or 75$.  It came with a fire safety dvd too.  The practice ones are different colors too.

my friend does fire dart, amongst other things -- it's really cool! not very widespread though, i haven't ever witnessed anyone besides him doing it. but i'd love to see it gain popularity!
