Does anyone have good recommendation on hooping-friendly shoes that can go outdoors and inside? I like to go barefoot when possible, but can't on some oudoor surfaces (like pavement -- ouch!). I hooped in my sneakers yesterday, but it was less than ideal.

What are good hooping shoes that won't cost me an arm and a leg, and don't look too dopey?

Thanks!

try hooping in ballet shoes
Hermes Sandles

They are used in Modern Dance and are the next best thing to barefoot. Plus they rock for turning! :-)
Dance sneakers get my vote. You can get them online for about $35. They are good for all surfaces, especially pavement because they provide cushion for your foot when you jump. Be careful with sizing though, they run different from street shoes. Read the item description carefully for sizing instructions.
I left a comment on your vid & mentioned the Capezio split sole jazz shoe-- I'm crazy about them. They don't offer as much support as dance sneakers do, but to me they're the next best thing to barefoot. The soles are a touch sturdier than ballet slippers, but still super flexy & so comfy. You can even foot hoop in them!
Oh yeah the sizing thing applies there too. I get mine from Discount Dance Supply.
Oh yea! Capezio Freedom dance sneaker. Split-sole, lightweight. Next best thing to hooping barefoot. I love mine!
Thank you all for the suggestions! I ordered some dance sneakers today. I'll keep you posted on my thoughts... :)
Those split sole shoes sound perfect! I do a lot of foot hooping, and usually that makes me go barefoot.
IWhen I first stated hooping I went barefoot and now for the last few weeks I have been using a sneaker, which I think they provide more blance. Probably wouldn't work on foot hooping though. I will have to look into the dance sneaker myself. for sure keep us update on how they work out.
I got dance sneakers and LOVE them. My feet feel so supported in them, and they're still flexible enough to dance in.
moccasins are always nice, and extra fringe is a plus!
Vibram Five Fingers are awesome -- protects your feet and feels the closest to barefoot with shoes on. They look kind of funny though...so they might not meet your not dopey requirement.
