Should I offer Teacher Training and Certification?? ANSWER = YES!

In March 2009 I started to consider offering Online Teacher Training after receiving several e-mails and messages asking if I was planning to in the future. I posted this original forum discussion to get an idea of what everyone thought of the idea and after the response here and several private messages of encouragement I've decided to make it my project for 2010.

I love this idea. I don't know how you manage you're time but you're amazing at it! Quite envious really! If you need any help with anything, I would be honored to assist. And if this goes through, I definitely would love to be trained!

Shoot for the moon!! As they say, even if you miss you will be among the stars. I love it ! You are so strong in teaching and creating, and I feel you would excel in this. I agree.. a teacher training program should focus on other things than tricks. You have my support for this. Go get 'em, lady!

I know that one day I want to teach hoop dance. I would totally take your training : )

I think you would be great at this, and I would totally love to do the teacher training. I've wanted to do this ever since I started hooping, but I didn't want to have to travel to california or somewhere else far away in order to do this. I love it!

I think it's a great idea. A focus on teaching for different styles of learning would also be useful. Go for it! (in your copious free time).

This would be awesome! I've been teaching my students (I'm a high school teacher) whatever I learn/ pick up on but it's so disorganized and random. I would definitely sign up for this! =)

I vote yes on this as well. I told my boyfriend the other day I would love to teach hoop dance, even as a part-time thing, because I want to spread the confidence and joy I attained in the hoop to everyone in my city. I would feel more confident in leading a class if I took the training, plus all of us probably could be more likely to get a studio, gym or even university rec center to let us use space for classes if we can show we're certified.

Do it when you have the time; I'll wait eagerly. :-)

Yeah, I think people could benefit from some sort of class about proper instruction. You and I both know there is more that goes into teaching than just standing in front of a lot of people with only a whole lotta information in your brain. It doesn't even need to be as labour intensive as you describe it, and I think people could get a lot out of it. But you are right, it is probably wise to wait a bit before you offer that sort of service because -holy smokes- you are putting a lot of work into those classes! And I think you'll attract more traffic and interest in a class like that after this community grows and blossoms even more!

I'm stuck in a loop with the hula hoop. When I was a little girl I was abused in every which way. Often I was grounded to my bedroom, with two bathroom visits and a dinner release. In my bedroom held my boom box. Loud music would draw my angry step father towards my room. I haven't posted for a very long time, but I have something worth sharing.  In the last couple of years, I have advanced enough to start teaching and I absolutley love my classes.  All my students are wonderful its the most favorite part of my week. Through a very unfortunate series of events, every hoop I own, including my hoops for students, were taken and no longer in my possession.
