Should I offer Teacher Training and Certification?? ANSWER = YES!

In March 2009 I started to consider offering Online Teacher Training after receiving several e-mails and messages asking if I was planning to in the future. I posted this original forum discussion to get an idea of what everyone thought of the idea and after the response here and several private messages of encouragement I've decided to make it my project for 2010.

I would love love love love to teach if and when I ever got good enough.
It's actually a goal I've set for myself upon returning to Canada. That should be in about a year and a half so you have plenty of time ;-). Nobody hoops where I'm from (Wolfville, NS). But the town has a very hip vibe to it. I know it would catch like wild fire!

You go chikita!
Oh please do! I will be starting my masters in OT this summer and I plan to incorporate hooping in my practice in the future... So i obviously will want to take a hoop teaching certification. Since all my learning so far has been through your classes I would love the teacher cert. to also be through you.
that is a great idea! I vote YES.
I don't see why not - you're a great, natural teacher and don't you already have a qualification in Education? There are teacher trainings in the US and the UK, but are there any in Canada? You should definitely be the first and definitive trainer there... If you go ahead and end up bringing your course to the UK, give me a shout - I would love to take your course!
Definitely you should! It would be such a great resource for us in northern Canada! I would attend for sure whether it was online or in-person! Do you know of any online certification courses? All the one's I've seen require you to be in class and are all in the states :(
awww sounds like something to invest in!!! I think your program has potential to be as amazing as all the others!! It is something I would consider investing in! :)
I think it sounds great! I'll be looking for something like this soon enough too
ai cayrumba! yah girl!
i think it's a great idea. you would be giving us the greatest gift, being able to pass on knowledge! i'll work extra super hard to learn all my tricks and tips so that i can take the instructors course. :)
I love that idea... teaching people or even just a friend is something I would really like to eventually do. The way you break things down with great detail has helped me so much with my own hooping. It would be an honor to be certified by the very person that inspired me to pick up a hoop!
Safire....we are on the same wavelength!! I want to add how to teach art classes online to people who have art training so that they can spread the JOY of art, and open the art experience to as many people as possible......this would be the same for you in hooping...it will be a lot of work, but instead of teaching one person at a time, you are teaching others to teach, plus, you are helping them add income in a time that people really need part time jobs. So I vote yes, you should teach online classes!! Thanks to you, I just ordered the html and CSS book for dummies and hope to add video teaching on my website...I am learning sooo much from you...in addition to hooping!! I just taught my 64 year old friend, Barbie, how to hoop today...

I highly recommend the pages that you could print out with the hooping tricks... as I watch something online, but forget how to do it before I go outside...thanks again for inspiring me...xxoo, Jill
Yes, please.
I agree with all here...do it! I like how you would have manuals and student books to remind them exactly what they did in class. That's the problem I have after class...remembering all the cool things I just learned! My memory fails me most of the time. :)
