Knee hooping spins the flames really fast.

Also, there *should* be someone standing around with a wet towel as your safety! Lay it flat, set the wick down, and smother the flame by folding the towel over it.

If the flame is low, like the last wick burning at the end of a performance, you can blow it out.

I usually wait until the flames start to smolder (when it starts getting smokey/flicker/low flames), then blow it out.

a damp towel also works well to smother the wicks.

I either knee hoop them out. Blow them out. Or if I'm using my Pele Wicks, I'll eat them (these wicks have no metal going through them).
