they're local to my area :) one of my friends got one of the first ones and she really likes it a lot. I'll be getting to check it out at some point in the next month or so. they haven't said a set date for when they'll be available for everyone, though. i know the people who make them put a lot of time, effort and love into them though!!

Got on the waiting list for Synth..can't wait! I always thought smart hoops were 'too much' for me... distracting from the hooper and their skills. But for some reason this hoop to me lets you shine aND looks baller! No black spot and only 3 hundooo

Ha, woops, dunno how I missed the replies before I posted mine with the same link. Just wanted to say though from the two videos posted on the facebook page, I'm actually a bit disappointed in the Synth. It's awesome in that there is no black spot, but while a few of the patterns it makes catch my eye, I'm not all that thrilled. It looks more like it's geared to vertical hooping in order to really appreciate the effects, but there is always so much going on in it at once that it's too much for me. I have been watching the Phoenix videos again and think I'm in love with that one. I love some of the simpler patterns and how the lights play and chase each other rather than just being full force full going nutzo all the time, haha.

And I like that you can hook Phoenix to your computer and add or delete. That way some of the ones I don't care for, I can just remove. With the Synth, you're stuck with all of them with no room to change anything. If you love all of them, that's awesome, but I think the extra $50 for the customization on Phoenix is worth it for me. And I'll just delete the patterns where the gap would be noticeable, as I don't like full lights lit up much anyway. I asked to be put on the waiting list and am starting to save my pennies now. :D

There is the Mobius by Illumni-Nation, but it's really expensive.  It has a heart pattern and can display a written message.

I really like the synth hoop, but I don't like that you can add or change patterns like you said, but I also know hoop daddy hasn't been selling pheonixs for a long time so I don't know if I really want to wait for them to start selling again, and the synth is one of the cheapest ones out there.
And I didn't know about the mobius hoop until now and I just looked at it and I'm really interested in it.
So those are my two options right now... Not sure yet!
