after watching a freakishly large amount of fire hooping vids,
i noticed that some people like 4 spokes..some 5..some 6..and some looked like a continuous fire ring outside a non burning hoop..
so for those of you that burn what are your personal preferences and why did you choose that #.

Oh wow this is a fun one. When I made my fire hoop I had someone teach me all the different ways to do wicks and ended up with 5 good size wicks. Less wicks gives you more room to grab the hoop so it was a really good starter hoop for me. When I went to make Fire hoop #2 I made it collapsible so it has 4 3ft sections. I wanted the wicks and connectors to be spaced evenly so I could either go down to 4 or up to 8. I went with 8 smaller wicks so you have a more solid looking flame. I vote more but smaller wicks.

I would really like to make the one that looks continuous though and I know how but haven't tried yet. If any one has a hoop like that let me know how you like it before I go blow more money on wicks lol.
the 8 wick one must look pretty awesome. do you notice a weight difference ?
i am making my 1st hoop right now and had decided on 5 also.. for pretty much the same reason .. more room for hand placement as a newbie to fire..
Four and five spokes are my preference! I like to do a lot of breaks and honostly a four point hoop really makes breaking easy and smooth and non-scary! I actually started with a 3 section collapsiple with 9 spokes! 3 on each section. That was a bit much i think!! And when you say continuos do mean like a ring of kevlar all the way around like a ring of fire?? Because that is definatly my next project!! ok so the ring of fire thing... my next project btw.... you put 8 spokes on the hoop and then as far as I know you use kevlar roping and attach one end to spoke A and the other to spoke B. if you were to letter your spokes clockwise you would have kevlar from A to B... C to D.. E to F..and G to H so you would end up with something looking like four fire wings on the outside of your hoop. You can also stack the wicks by adding one between EVERY set of spokes therefore creating a full ring of fire. Either way looks really cool lit because there is fire everywhere.
oh willow that sounds so cool,
do post video when you light it up
I've always used six... but I'm a junkie. ; )

I might go with five for my next set. If I'm going to try triple fire hoop then any less fire might be helpful!
