Ok,

So my art has been stolen and plaster everywhere. And I really don't know what to do. I've tracked it down to the company that did it, and contacted them. But they still haven't taken down my art. I can take legl actioin, but I would rather not, and really don't have the cash to do that sort of thing. When I first started my hula art, I really didn't mind that other people shared it, and had someone even mention to me to water mark it better. Well I still don't mind if peole share it, use it for there stuff with my water mark, but this company took off my water mark and is selling it as their own. IDK, should I not care and just be happy that there is more hula art out there? That was my first thought, but some designs I put hours of work into? Should I care alot and hassle them until they take it down? Ask others to help? It is ok to change my feelings on this, from not really caring (but it was never really stolen like this before) to caring alot about it? IDK, advice please

At this point the only thing you can do is take legal action. They are probably assuming you wont since your a small business with little money. Since they are making money off of your art, you should care. Since they took time to steal it they will and can do it to other artists like yourself. Yes, it's a hassle but they will/can keep doing this to you in the future. If you think of it this way you own a claim for every item they sell of your art. So even if it's a hassle in the end it could be worth it.

Thanks for your advice Martika, I really appreciate it.

Have a lawyer send them a cease and desist order and then sue them if you have to. They have stolen from you and are making money on your work. It's time for YOU to make some money on your work now.

It was a COMPANY?!

Oh hell no girl!  Get after them!  Do not let this go!  Please consider taking legal action.

If you need help my best friend is an attorney.  Even if he can't help you, he may be able to offer advice or lead you in the right direction.  Get in touch with me girl!  <3  So sorry this is happening.  :-(

post it and let us harass them for you! thats BS.  you should not be happy with this, no way, and I would be more than happy to help you hassle them!!

im sorry to hear that rachel, that sucks when that happens.
can you tell us who stole it? id like to know just so i dont accidentally give any business to these people. or if you dont feel comfortable doing that publicly, just message me if youd like. thanks.

If they are re-selling your work on etsy, you can report to etsy if you don't want to go through a lawyer at the moment. Otherwise, I agree with Caroleeena. Do not let this go. If it costs money, is your art worth it? Are YOU worth it? Yes, absolutely. Don't sell yourself short and let them have it :(

Thanks everyone for the advice, I really appreicate it! I'm going to see what legal action I can take. To inform everyone thou, my art can be seen at www.facebook.com/hulahoopcustomart and www.pneumaticcustoms.com Thanks again!

I'm sorry you have to go for this, but I loved your leg hooper design so much I went ahead and ordered it from your website!

I'm always looking for merchandise to express my love of the hoop, but it's hard to find!  You should think about branching out into tshirts.  I'd buy them!

Thanks Rika, and I have started a cafepress shop, I can add any designs, but I just have a few up at the moment www.cafepress.com/pneumaticcustoms
