are they a big yes or a big no? I wanted to try it out but i dont know to much about them besides they look good. Is there anybody who's had them in before? What should I know before maybe getting it done and if anybody happens to know a sylist in L.A?

I have made a couple sets so far and i LOVE them. it takes a night or two to get use to sleeping on them, and for me i usually cant wear them more than a week or so at a time. In order to install them you section your hair into tiny sections and braid that bit of hair around the dread which causes a bit of irritation due to all of the tugging after a while. So i usually wear them for a week or two, take them out for a couple of days (give the scalp a rest), and then redo them. it takes me about an hour/hour and a half to braid them in myself. I love them though. I get soooo many compliments on them.  I wish you luck in your venture.

ohhh so cute now.... did u make them your self or did u order them online?
Thank you, its the second pair i made ..they cost anywhere  between 50/100 dollars online, i made mine for about $10/15 in two afternoons of work.
I love them they are so much fun! This site... Synthetic Dreads has a bunch of information on the different types of synthetic dreads, how to make them, the difference between single and double ended dreads, how to take care of them....ect. You can buy them online or make them yourself if your feeling crafty. Making them yourself is much cheaper it just takes a little time but you can make them the exact thickness and look you want, then you just braid them in yourself! Have fun!

They're really fun! I used to wear them for around 2 months at a time. If you have long hair and youre trying to install, i suggest a box braid for maximum hair conceal-age.  I always wore double ended dreads because i liked how the folded over. If you want a LOT of volume go for a high number of single ended dreads.

My biggest suggestion is to join vampirefreaks.com and join the cult, dread to be different. its super helpful.

Sleeping with them installed the first week is NOT fun. its sorta painful, especially if you installed them a little tight. they will itch, so just pat them like black girls pat their new weaves. Washing your hair will now become a chore and half. You need to hold them up, and out of the water, and try to only wash your scalp. water takes forever to get out of plastic dreads.

Not the best pictures, but these are two of my installs, both DE dreads.
