I have been hooping for almost 8 months now and almost everytime I have made a breakthrough in my flow it has been after a good smoke session. It's not necassarily me feeling a release but more so a higher (no pun intended) awareness of my body and the way the hoop is working around my body. Yesterday I had a really beautiful moment with the hoop, I forgot I was at a public beach. I wish my phone hadn't been dead so I could have recorded it.
Anyways, half of the videos I have posted is when I am... um... botanically enhanced.
I feel like I hoop so much better (not that I'm terrible or can't have a moment in flow while sober) and it allows me to push past my current limits. I don't learn any new tricks this way but I learn new transitions and gain more understanding of the relationship between the hoop and my body.
Does anyone else feel this way? It's always such a monumental step in my hooping, I carry all information I've learned with me to the next time, whenever it may be. Any similar expiriences?

Permalink Reply by Laura Flora on July 31, 2012 at 12:07pm for me it is less about a specific goal and more about being in the moment when i marry the two, which is suuuch a release. generally i think falling into flow is easier, most of the time you just don't sweat the little bumps and keep trucking.
Permalink Reply by Carleigh Jo on July 31, 2012 at 1:44pm i totally agree! i feel like it dosent make me better at hooping it just makes me less prone to care about the mistakes. i love itttt.and yes, keep on truckin<3
Permalink Reply by Carly Roseanne on August 1, 2012 at 1:04pm Exactly, I feel it helps me go deeeep into flow where I often open new doors :) speaking of trucking, I just had one of these "moments" whilst listening to the Dead, got this one on video this time :P
Permalink Reply by Laura Flora on August 1, 2012 at 1:53pm beautiful flow :) i got lost watching... hope everyone has a very grateful week... happy 70th jerry!!
i have spent my life seeking all that's still unsung.
bent my ear to hear the tune, and closed my eyes to see.
when there was no strings to play, you played to me~ <3
Permalink Reply by Niisha Doodle on July 31, 2012 at 1:52pm It's okay, I can't hoop if I'm not high. If just doesn't feel right. I feel like I have a creative block, but when I'm high it usually goes away and I can just hoop (or draw, dance etc) without giving a crap if what I'm doing looks retarded and just explore all the boundaries. :)
Permalink Reply by Sam Danielle on August 2, 2012 at 12:01am I know exactly where you're coming from! I mean I can hoop sober but the whole creative block thing is exactly the same. it's almost as if you get a little boost of confidence :)

haha I too am also "enhanced" anytime! While I do not feel that it enhances my abilities, I definitely think it helps me to stop focusing so hard and not be so self conscious! Which in turn helps to really feel it more It's a beautiful thing! I am glad that you have this experience!!
Permalink Reply by spiralroot on July 31, 2012 at 3:58pm i'm like this as well. mostly with a day hoop under the stars,so i never get to record it.lol.but the lights in an led throw me off pretty badly. esp. after i smoke.
Permalink Reply by Elizabeth Kelly on July 31, 2012 at 8:09pm I feel ya, it definitely helps me relax into the flow of things.
Permalink Reply by Keseygirll~ on August 1, 2012 at 1:50am maaan, i totally feel you! i just experienced two hoop breakthroughs afterr blaziing :) ii can finally get the hoop from my waist into lasso position! (sounds easy but my left hand has been reaally weak for a while because of an injury i never took care of), and i was thinking i was never going to get it because of that but i finally did it smoothly! And i can also now hoop from my knee up to the waist haha :) sooo stoked right now. :)
