Ok for about 3 years now I have been a part of the SCA it is a group devoted to the study and re enactment of medieval history. I want to document Hoops so that I can incorporate them into my other hobby. I have found many sites, with a simple "history of the hula hoop" google, that offer the information that hoops are depicted in egyptian lithographs as early as 1000 bc, as well as information that hoops were popular in Britain in the 14th century. But I do not know where the sources of the information came from? Do sites not list resources anymore??? Am I suppose to just believe everything I read??? Where is this referred to egyptian art? Where is the evidence of 14th century Hooping??? Any one know?

Miss Judy also released a self published fact book using lulu you can find it here

http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/the-hula-hoop/3191420

It is not really edited the best and some of it is structured strangely, but it is defiantly a great place to start and there are heaps of cool pictures and general information.
o.O I wonder if she is at my library? Thanks :-)
I haven't seen it in a library really but if you can find a copy it is actually pretty cheep for what you get and you can even buy the eBook version for cheaper
