Hi folks,

I'm still trying to find reliable sources of hoop pipe. Especially half inch. Any input from you folks would be very useful. I'll continue to post my findings as they come up. Right now, Home Depot seems to be the place, but their barbed connectors are crap, and they never have the same stock twice.

I'm starting to look into farm supply places in the local rural areas.

Lowe's has some half inch that I think will fit the grey plastic couplings.

Although Pex tubing is also labeled 1/2 inch it's a bit smaller then the PVC tubing. I think this has to do with one being measured as half inch from the outside of the tubing and the other being measured from the inside.
haha, yep. i nearly tore my hair out trying to find connectors for pex tubing until someone clued me into that little quirk. i don't know what the 1/2 inch tubing takes, but 3/4" pex tubing needs a 5/8" connector.
good to know this also. I've got some strange white, translucent tubing I scored from a job site, but I can't find connectors for it.
probably pex pipe...lucky you..
i can only seem to find black lined pex here in canada at this time.
I actually just got a spool of 1/2" from lowes and I LOVE it .... i'm gunna be hooping either @ cal anderson park or greenlake tomorrow if you want to try out the hoop i just made with 1/2" pipe from lowesssssss! :)
Thanks!
So, it's half inch black tubing? Please confirm, because I'll have to go grab a roll today or tomorrow.

FYI, (and I'll post this on the board), there's a Seattle Tech Spinners gathering tomorrow at
Oddfellow's Hall (Century Ballroom) across from Cal Anderson park. The fee is $1 to $2. It's really nice in there when the weather sucks. Very nice bunch of people.

I always get all my supplies from Home Depot, they always have a good selection of sized tubing. Their connectors really don't bother me, what don't you like about them?
the barbs are too wussy. Keep in mind, I make twist-to-collapse hoops with my connectors, so they have to be beefy. There are connectors out there with bigger barbs, which I get at another local hardware shop (that, strangely, doesn't even carry the piping).
Lowes is the best place I have found and good prices too! What I really like is they bundle 10 connectors in a bag and make it cheaper, also the connectors they stock don't have that stupid side hole that sticks out. Before I found Lowes I was using a huge metal file to get those suckers off, now life is good with my super smooth 3/4 connectors and I always know they will have a full stock of 160 psi / 100 psi rolls and color electrical tape!!
There is nothing better than going in and picking up a huge roll of pipe and throw it over my back and watch the men stop and stare and the chick with psi pipe!!! LOL good times.
Lowes, no way! I called our local Lowes and asked about tubing and they told me they didn't carry it. Grrr. That's what I get for trusting some voice over the telephone.
I've had good luck again today. Be sure to ask for irrigation "pipe." Tubing, apparently, has squishy walls, pipe has hard walls. If they're searching a database while you're on the phone, they may not be locating it under tubing. Or you got a moron on the phone. Or your local Lowes sucks. I'd go in person and raid their plumbing department.

:(
SCORE! Boy, that makes for a floppy but light hoop. I bet I could go smaller and still be able to do my array of tricks. WOOTY WOOT TOOOT!
