So first off I fucking LOVE burning it's the most amazing feeling so spiritual and serene I wish I got into fire before LED I don't even wanna play with my LED's now that I have fire.

obviously going from regular hoop to fire is different and that is where I need help! it's hard to get into my flow for a few reasons first off it's winter and I live on the east coast so there is the problem of cold hands messing me up,being cautious about ice and the fact I have to wear more clothing then normal that gets in the way! obviously these things I have to deal with so im dealing but what I would really like advice on are good tricks to do while spinning fire.  I am limited  on the tricks I do right now  because there are just certain tricks you can't do with a fire hoop sooooooooo if ya'll could tell me what tricks work for you and tricks that you like to do when burning please share it would be a big help.

Much love to you all!!!!!!!

hhmmm well i'm planning on teaching a 2 hr. fire hoop workshop at this years Zen Fest (see link below.) But is there a certain trick your interested in? You can pretty much do all most any trick you can with a normal hoop with a fire hoop. Also how many wicks do you normally use?

Yea I know you can do most tricks but unfortunately with my style of hooping and off the body tricks im finding myself having a hard time. that's why I posted this to see what tricks people like to do so maybe I could get some inspiration...im still getting used to the wicks being there ya know? I just need to get used to it. but ya are there any tricks you like to do personally? even just basic simple things you like to do? Oh and my hoop has 5 wicks.

Ok, I'll work on a tutorial then. I'll start with the basics, i'll try to have it posted in a couple of hours. I normally use 4 wick, it makes doing body rolls easier but I'll do a 5 wick tut. then.

Here is a tutorial over timing/stopping, this is my first tutorial. Sorry in advance if it's not very detailed. I'm use to teaching in person and being more hands on. I hope it helps, I can do more tutorials over chest breaks, weaves, and throws etc. later. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfhQmjxa8jY&feature=youtu.be

Update: I've uploaded a tutorial over doing weaves with your fire hoop on hoopcity too.

thanks so much! the timing exercise is def helpful wish I was able to make it to your workshop.

your welcome! I need to do a video on the art of the "yoga breath". How it can help you in your fire hooping practice. It's a wonderful way of calming your self in your hoop and protecting your lungs from the flame. It can also be used to help find your center, meditative state in your hoop. But I think i'll get to that later in the week ;)

awesome keep me posted sistah!

Hey martika I got a question for you. I just recently ordered Synergy quick wicks for 7/8 tubing. Do you know if they will be okay for using on 3/4 tubing and or polypro as well? Any suggestions on this topic? Plus... I went ahead and ordered 6 of them, so I can choose from 4 or 5 on bigger hoop or 3 on each mini. Does that sound okay to you? Thanks! :-) you always have such great advice!

Oh of course you an use your wicks on other smaller sized tubing. However, when the wick is fully screwed on the hoop you will have extra metal track exposed on the clamp than normal. All you need to do it wrap tape around the extra metal track so it wont cut you when you hoop. I typical use high heat electric tape so that it wont melt when doing isolation. Yes most people have 5-6 wicked fire hoops, I think 6 wicks just makes the fire hoop too heavy, and hot. When it comes to performing most people wouldn't care if you used 3 wicks. Fire hooping is appealing because it's on fire.

I will do a tutorial on an isolation hoop you can do with 1-3 quick wicks inside the hoop. Caroleeena of Circles of Joy has a video of a isolation hoop with 1 wick that's really awesome. Yes, you can use your quick wicks however you want :D. You just want to make sure the wicks are balanced right on the hoop, you want equal spaces between the wicks. If it's not balanced right it could make your hoop wobbly.

Thank you Sooooo much!! This is exactly what I wanted to hear! I will be looking into that high heat tape! And I'm pretty sure I'm so goin to make on of those isolation fire hoops! I love iso's!!

Here is another tutorial, more to come later this week. http://www.hoopcity.ca/video/chest-fire-hooping-tutorial?xg_source=...
