Okay hoopers, I've got a serious problem. I live in Florida..../end thread

No for real though, it's hot out there, I mean, really hot. I've been inside downing water and my skins still burning 5 minutes later. It would seem to me that Orlando is not the most hooper friendly city in the world.

After about 5 minutes outside my hoops get so hot that they start to change shape while I'm hooping (I can actually see this happen in videos I've taken from my practice sessions), throw in a reversal, and my hoops completely bent.  I've tried the black 160 psi tubing from Lowe's, it's too heavy for anything IMO. Presently I'm using 100-120 PSI black irrigation tubing from Lowe's. The 120psi (1/2") for small hoops seems fine. Sadly, the 100psi (3/4") is my preferred tube, and the one with the problems. {The tubing I'm referring to here comes in 100' rolls}

Is there a tubing that is sturdy against extreme heat, but that's still light like the 3/4" 100 PSI tubing I've come to love? If there is, where do I find this ethereal gift from the hooping gods?

I have the same problem in SC (at least I did last night.)  I was practicing breaks and passes and when I'd move with any kind of speed, I could feel my hoop bend and smoosh (Something it doesn't do in cooler weather). I felt like  both my hoop and I were baking. We were on asphalt too which makes it worse.    I will be following this thread with interest since my only suggestion is to hoop after dark or inside.
Have you considered HDPE or Polypro?
HDPE would probably be your best bet. It's nice and stiff, and much more heat resistant.
What kind of connectors do you use with HDPE? I like the stiffer feel and more of a 1/2" diameter, but I've been stuck finding the right connectors.
You could probably try pex too. I found it at Home Depot. It's much stiffer than PE, so it's iffy to get used to (I was afraid of hitting myself with it), but once you're used to it it's pretty awesome. I love it. HDPE is probably a good suggestion too. Also, I have a pass to use the facilities at my local community center and they said any time the gym is empty I can use it to hoop in.
I live in Florida too and have had the same problem with 1/2"  120psi. I have since switched to polypro and HDPE. But I only use my HDPE when I hoop outside in the daytime. It's much more rigid and stands up against the heat. I bought mine from sacred-flame.com.
Hey girl! I live in Florida too (Jax Beach) so I feel ya on the heat! HDPE hoops are the way to go. I haven't had any warping problems with them!

Alright, so, on the subject of the HDPE tubing, how do you connect them, anyone know of a good tutorial or instructional site?

I freaking love how hoopers are such awesome helpers. You ladies ROCK! And Hi Vanessa, thanks for replying; how you been lovely lady!?

Rich Porter has awesome instructions on how to connect HDPE or Polypro. :)

I have been doing well. Busy with my summer plans and hooping as much as possible. How have you been hun?

Thanks, great article.

No problem. :)
Awesome!!!~ Thanks so much. I've been great, I just got a membership at RDV Sportsplex so I can hoop inside, and already I can say that hooping with mirrors is where it's at; I've been able to eliminate so many redundant moves just with one session. God it feels so good to break through that wall I hit
