Permalink Reply by Paula Chambers on December 10, 2010 at 7:21pm I wear a side ponytail on the opposite side of my dominant shoulder. Ex: if I'm mostly shoulder hooping on my left shoulder, I wear my hair on the right side. This worked well for a performance! Two very high ponytails also seem to work, but it depends on if you have ALOT of hair or not. A friend of mine puts two ponytails up high, makes them into buns and wears a bandana head wrap thing. It has an "I-Love-Lucy" look, but she rocks it. Good luck!

Spiral wore her hair that way (two buns under a wrap) on her "flow" video on the Hoop Technique DVD: it looked bad @$$.
Permalink Reply by Maria/HoopME! on December 10, 2010 at 9:48pm My hair is so thick that a bun or pony really get in the way, too. I just leave it down completely or put the sides up only.I also wear a "snood" (see my prof pic for a bit of it) and it keeps my hair out of the way. I prefer to think it looks less lunch lady and more renaissance chick ;)
Both options can get a bit hot, but it's better than conking my bun with the hoop!
Permalink Reply by Terra Firma on December 10, 2010 at 10:58pm Uh whats a snood? I have a buttload of hair. Wearing it down is not an option and it gets in the way when it's up. Grrr. Sarah, I am so envious. I would love to chop my hair off. Short hair looks awful on me though :(
Permalink Reply by Maria/HoopME! on December 11, 2010 at 9:36am OMG, that IS a bad snood!! I remember those from the 80's (totally dating myself here)
I prefer a more retro 40's snood, myself ;)
I just cut it usually... but recently I let my hair grow long again and I find that silk or cotton (non-synthetic) head bands or scarves keep your hair out of the way... then I just tie a pretty decently hight bun to go with it.
I find that too many people are scared of getting short hair. I think that some people can really pull off the long hair, but most people look awesome with short hair because it defines their face if cut properly.

Pigtails or two braids work for me! :)
Permalink Reply by Nikki Osier on December 11, 2010 at 5:48am I have this same problem. I've found a really low pony tail works best for me. Or like a side pony really low.
