I really liked the discussion about he most impressive hula hoop trick so I thought I'd ask.
What do you think is the most difficult trick though not necessarily the most impressive?

I know the vertical jump through was (and still is) very difficult for me. Also I've hit my head more times trying to learn the elevator than any other move.

I'm only 8 months into my hoop-journey, but so far the most difficult move for me has been the chest roll. I've been working on it off and on for almost three months and made my first contact a couple weeks ago. I JUST started achieving a real roll yesterday.
hey you have some tips abt this i have watched caroleenas video for this i have sucha hard time with this trick
Caroleena's tutorial really helped me out, but I do the roll from the back like in Sandra's tutorial in the budding series. That just seems to work better for me. As for tips, make sure your hoop is making contact with your arm. It helps me to wait till I actually FEEL the contact before I let go of the hoop. Practice, practice, practice.
Well, there are some circus or gymnastic-style ones that I wouldn't even try because I know something would snap! But aside from those, the one that is KILLING me is the scissor switch in leg hooping. I've picked up most other tricks I've tried after a few days of serious focus, but this one is going on a month & a week without really nailing it predictably. I get streaks of success just often enough to keep me thinking I almost have it down... but no...

Oh yes & the horizontal "bunny ear" elbow pass, I only get that once in a while, but I haven't given it nearly as much obsessive energy as that blamed scissor switch!!! I love leg hooping so I REALLY want to get it!

I do know what you mean about the elevator/escalator-- it still whacks me once in a while if the angle's off or something.
anything with leg hooping can be a real pain in the ass~! :D i constantly have new bruises cause i hoop everynight, my hoop was made out of really hard tubing(i didn't make it) so i get lots of booboos on my legs and FACE! dammit! "BOB SAGET!!!" LOL

i agree the hardest trick i've seen is the scissor switch.
Bunny ear - good description. I've been having a tough time with that one too. I can do vertical elbow passes, but horizontal, not so much. Although I probably haven't given it as much energy as I should either.
For me it would be doing all the trick in my unnatural direction. It is so difficult, I feel like complete beginner ! lol !
I agree..anything in the opposite currant sux for me! even super easy moves are crazy difficult for me,I feel like it's day 1 with the hoop again..
xoxox..
aww yes the chest roll for me as well. its super hard. its like my all time thing i want to learn.
Chest roll? piece of cake....now...can someone teach me how to get my leg out of and back into the hoop? LOL the desire to learn one legged hooping is driving me crazy!! One legged hooping so far has definately been the most difficult thing for me.
you will get it.
when the hoop hits your pushing knee ... now...now...now...lift the leg out..
then the whole movement changes for the stable leg..instead of doing a push it is more of a knee bend up an down while your leg is out..when putting your leg back in remember to turn with the hoop to give your self more time
Are you hooping bare-legged? That makes all the difference in the world. I've been one-legging for months now but I still have trouble with it in anything the least bit slippery.

Also, I remember that just before I caught this move, I'd been doing a lot of leg hooping in reverse current. (Hand break-reverses.) I think something about switching it up woke up my legs to the right rhythm.

And I second everything spider baby said!
