Living in Japan seems to make buying shiny hoop tape highly impractical or ridiculously expensive. So I thought I'd check around to find a manufacturer and see if I can buy direct.

I can if I want 1,000 rolls of tape. That would be about 20km of tape - enough to decorate about 4,000 hoops. I am considering it. The price is good and I will never have to worry about tape ever again. Plus I can resell or gift tapes for a lifetime.

But I am not sure about the seller who I've contacted, Spick Global based in India. They seem to have a mixed reputation online. Some buyers claim scams and shipping troubles; other customers are satisfied.

Has anyone else bought large quanities of hoop supplies (particularly tapes) directly from a manufacturer/supplier/wholesaler? How did you verify them? Do you have one you can recommend?

Thanks for any details you can share.

Thanks for sharing your experience. It is hard to tell scam from legit sometimes.

I think I will purchase via escrow, so the money is held in trust by a third party until the goods are shipped. Even that has its potential drawbacks (the scammer can ship me anything and lie on the paperwork) but it seems a little safer than paying via PayPal or wire transfer.

I don't know. I feel like you would have to get a job working in a factory that manufactures them. Those companies probably profit so much. Don't foresee them selling in bulk without it costing them profits.
