I'm becoming so good at hooping that it would seem like a natural continuation to start performing. But why to perform? I don't feel good doing it just because I want to people to see me as cool person. So, I would like to hear your reasons :) maybe to get inspired to perform or just for curiosity.

Why not perform? If you enjoy hooping you should do it if you have the opportunity

Yes, maybe I also think like this. I may have to find out by trying performing :) I also meditate with the hoop and my relationship with it is deeply spiritual.

But yes, when I imagine myself performing with a hoop, it doesn't feel very good. Of course I would like to inspire others to hoop. But the thought of getting on the stage and dance with the hoop feels like I'm revealing my soul and heart to everyone. I may not be ready for it now. It feels like I would be naked in front of people. But giving so much of myself could really do good for me - I tend to be secretive.

It is very interesting to hear other people's views on this :)

I am more of a teacher than a performer. I performed at the Hooping Life movie premier in Portland, ME this year, it was fun but I got so nervous! But after the movie at the hoop jam my nerves were gone, and I hooped a million times better on my own free will. I love teaching, and showing and sharing with others....but I will always be willing to perform and unplanned performance!

JAzzy you are one of the most beautiful Hoopers I know! You perform just by being you!

My mother was a professional figure skater, and my father's family ran a multi-million dollar entertainment corp. in Switzerland, so performing is my natural way to make money off a passion of mine.

Also, I enjoy sparking interest in people. When you dance for others, you are inspiring a few members of the audience to try to hula hoop. Such as if your not performing, but rather just hula hooping in public, you will inspire some random person who notices you. Be it a little girl, or an older woman. I know that for a fact! For when I was four years old  my mother took me to my first ballet show. That very night, I swore to my mother I'd grow up to be a dancer. Watching a ballet performance inspired me to dance.

I enjoy hooping outdoors. I noticed the crowds that formed and the surprise clamps from viewers in the distance, I liked it. It makes me happy, kids happy, and my mom proud =) Then one day someone asked me if I could cover their spot in a cabaret show...and thats how it started. I love a crowd of happy onlookers!

I have performed in one capacity or another most of my life, I don't mind being in front of crowds, and I love entertaining and sharing so performing just seemed rather natural. There is little that is more gratifying than getting paid to do something you'd do for free.

Truly though, my favorite thing about performing is to share the joy I get from dancing. I don't even care if people watch me, I just want them to feel me. I want to share the energy I have when I spin and the happiness it brings.

I think performing is a thing one can do that is as intertwined with hooping as it is completely separate. One can achieve performance via hooping, but one does not have to perform to hoop. You can be a great hooper and post your awesome practice vids or whatever and never perform a show in your life. (Not to say that you need to post vids to have a fulfilling hooping life either!)

If you don't feel a desire to be on stage, you might find performance stressful and unpleasant.

However, that's no good reason not to give it a shot if you're curious! :D

I perform occasionally. Never in my life did I think that I'd be performing. Got into it absolutely by accident when someone asked me if I can be in a show and that I'd be one of the main characters. Since that time, I've met so many amazing people and fellow performers. It's not a full time thing for me, but I really do enjoy performing with fellow hoopers and fire spinners. I really feed off the energy of the audience and hearing from the audience after how much they loved our act is such a great feeling!

I moved back to the city to get into performing. I am in love with the life that the hoop brings into my world. I don't remember being good at anything that I hadn't given up on in my past. Its brought me confidence and excitement to learn and fail ans try again. I would like to perform just to inspire so many others as I have been inspired. I taught everyone I knew in the last town I lived in how to hoop, and I've watched by passers giggle and say they're too old to so it, I've watched guys get cocky and try and fail, and others who don't think they can do it become really good really quick. The smile a hula hoop can put on peoples faces is such a a natural glowing one. And the oooh's and aaaah's and "I only ever knew how to spin it away and make it come back to me, what you do is crazy" they're all such great feelings and everything to do with it makes me smile. I want to turn the world on to hooping.
