Where do you hoop during the winter? Do you go outside and brave the cold and snow(if you have that kind of climate)? Do you have a place indoors to hoop?

If you do hoop outside, what do you wear?
I think it can be kind of tricky finding good clothes to wear when hooping outdoors. That's where I've been doing most of my hooping since my indoor hooping room/living room lol currently has a christmas tree in it that I would prefer not to whack with a hoop!
I usually wear a couple layers of long sleeve shirts and a thin sweater or two that I can take off when I start to warm up. Leggings under jeans is good too.

Or do any of you just not hoop during the winter completely? I have a couple friends that only hoop during the warmer months because they don't have an indoor hooping area. (It can be pretty difficult to hoop outside during Chicago winters lol)

Lets hear your thoughts!

I usually hoop in my living room but you just reminded me that when we put up our Christmas tree i'm gonna be out of my hooping space, bummer lol. I recently started a hoop jam with our Park District and we are having those once a week. I live in Watseka which is south of Chicago. I would be sad though If I only got to hoop once a week during the winter. It's too cold to go outside. You should try going to a gym and hooping there.
Good call! Some of the local colleges will be empty for the holidays but open for art students and such who want to go paint in the studios. Sounds like a plan...maybe an empty lobby.
I live in Minneapolis, and I love me some winter hooping! Lately I have been hooping in my apartment, but last year the only way I could practice was outside. I invested in a few pairs of long sleeve thermals and some thick thermal type leggings. The only real bad thing about winter hooping is ice, I slipped several times last year, that was was not fun.
YEAH I had that problem the other day, I was hooping on my porch which was almost completely covered in ice and yeah.. I fell on my ass. haha. OH WELL! gotta get back up, hope none of the neighbors noticed, and keep hooping! haha.
Oh boy, I've been suffering here as a beginner! The comical thing was me trying to learn this outside in a winter jacket, after work, in the dark, with high winds blowing debris in my eyes, and also my dog had left me a few surprises out there as well. Then, I found out I was really using a child's toy hoop for all these weeks. Now if that is not a testament to how fun this is! I mean, I am compelled! Since I'm starting out, I realize there's only so much I can do before my fingers freeze. I had to make up my mind that I'd use the outdoor for certain things (moves) and then come inside to make space my room but it's quite limited. I've been wearing a tighter fleece top outside w/ collar pulled up (helps to soften the neck stuff anyway) and a hat. Don't forget your insides too. Hot tea helps warm me up before I go out there. Also, I'm not going to do any relaxed hooping out there for a while. It's all out, kind of high voltage hooping for me now. Maybe that's what I need now anyway to build up you know? I do think hooping in the cold is easier than playing guitar in the cold though! ;-)
ahh yess! hooping in the cold definitely works better than playing guitar with cold fingers! I was doing that last night (its always super cold in my bedroom, even with a space heater) and yeah my fingers were all stiff and what not, definitely makes it hard to play. but when you hoop in the cold, you eventually get warmed up! :)
I wouln'd be a better moment for this discussion : we just receive 18 inches of snow here!!! This beautiful snowstorm made me want to give a try outside. So I put few layers of clothes on : 3 long sleeve thermal shirts, legging, short skirt to keep my butt warm :), scarf, gloves, warm hat and of course winter boots and I was ready to have fun! I have to admit that snow hooping is not the best way to improve your skills with all those clothes on (and it's so slippery) but hooping in the snow is really playfull and an easy way to enjoy winter (besides winter sports). I will definitly do it again, specially when I'll need spend a lot of energy, tossing my hoop everywhere and having fun in the snow like a kid! Even though winter hooping is beautiful, I'm still craving for an indoor space to hoop : I miss hooping with almost no clothes on!! I hope you'll enjoy winter hooping as I do, untill summer is back! :)
