So I know there are several threads about Proton Labs' Helix hoop... BUT this is not just about the hype anymore! Word on the street is that Helix's are coming in! So.. I wanted to make this forum for all of us who have been patiently waiting for the arrival of our dream hoop. If you get one PLEASE post us a video, your thoughts, what your most excited about (or not excited about), tutorials, and all! I ordered one but probably won't get it for a few weeks but you'd better believe that I'll be posting about it in here!

ALSO, this thread would be a great resource for those folks who have been waiting to see one in person before making their purchase..

btw.. I have no affiliation with Proton Labs.. this is not an advertisement.. I am just truly excited!

I don't mind the gap at all! I know people are really hung up on that, but Craig has been  nothing but amazing since the helix launched. I can't say the same for the people over at atomic, and I know two people in my city that have had to send their hoops back TWICE each to get them fixed. That's too much, considering it happened right after they had sent it back! Yikes!!

I love my proton, and the gap is really not a big deal. Once you have it you'll know why.

I'm order 159 and I just got my confirmation email for it to ship! just incase any mamas or papas in line wanted to know to estimate their own wait ;)

thanks for the update! i still have a long while (i'm 449) but it's great to hear that they're powering through these!

Thank you! I'm 196 and you're the highest order number I've seen who has received a shipping confirmation email. This gives me hope :)

thank you so much for that info! I was hoping to have mine before electric forest but i doubt that will happen. I must find another LED hoop to keep me occupied for the time being. Patience is truly a virtue!!!!

oh man.. Im 384... cant... wait... any... longer... going... LOSE IT! AHHHHH!...

no. im alright.

This hoop is beautiful!! I WILL be ordering one of these in the near future! The gap really doesn't bother me. The electronics that make up these beautiful patterns have to go somewhere :-)  Plus I love that it comes in 3/4 tubing. And the lights are SUPER bright!

this is my hoop about...45 minutes after receiving it. SO BRIGHT, gap is not bad at all, not noticeable on so many settings, and the build feels amazing. i DID sand it, but mostly because it's a 28" hoop...i kinda really need the grip lol. it feels so well made though. am SO glad i went for this before an atomic. have used both and this feels exactly like i wanted it to. so light but so bright!!!!!

beautiful! thanks for posting! I love seeing all the pictures and videos that are coming out!!

thanks for posting!

Here is a long update I received via email last night. This is what I wrote in about:

is this hoop is really meant to take hard hits.? I know the Atomic has
some issues with that, and I read that you had improved on the design of
both the Phoenix and the Atomic.. I love to do tosses, and with that comes
some misses, and bouncing hoops on the ground. Will I be able to play hard
(obviously not purposely throwing it at the ground.. I do -try- to be
careful) with it? Will it be ok to let kids play with? The hoop I ordered
from you is HDPE, for hopefully added durability.
One reason I love my moodhoops is that kids can play with it and I don't
ever have to worry about it breaking, or having the lights stop working.

If I need to send it back for any reason, will shipping times be quicker
than when I order? I know that the shipping time right now is 8 weeks. If I
have to send it back after that, will it be another 8 weeks (or however long
the wait period is at that time) to have it back in my hands, or do owners
who have problems get priority?

And this is what he said back:

I'm so sorry for the delayed response -- especially if a question also went
unanswered on Facebook.  It is tough to keep up there as things disappear
easily in the pile but at least email can be tracked easier and we can at
least make sure and get back to you, even if it takes a few days.  :\

First, the HDPE option is a good choice for particularly good durability.
It only weighs a little less than an ounce more and is quite a bit more
forgiving in a lot of ways.  It flexes a little more which really comes in
handy when it takes a particularly hard hit from a drop, for example.  It
doesn't jar things quite so badly and it doesn't crack like polypro can in
extreme situations.

Regarding the overall strength, the connector on the Helix is made of carbon
fiber.  It's an incredibly light and strong material and is the only hoop in
the world to use this.  Every other hoop only uses plastic.  We use this to
our advantage to house the sensitive electronics inside including the power
circuit, control buttons, USB connector, and snap button that allows the
hoop to collapse.  The connector itself is rated at 600 lbs of pressure
before it fails structurally.  If you can find how to put that much pressure
on it without driving your car over it then you may be a super hero of some
sort!  :)  It really is incredibly strong and protects the most important
stuff in it.

I frequently take the hoops we keep for ourselves out to bars and such where
people aren't hoopers at all.  Most of them get drunk and spin them as fast
as they can around their arm to impress everyone and they end up flying a
few miles.  There's no way of course to say a piece of electronics is
invincible but there is no better durability test and we've yet to have a
single failure while doing this.

Any repair or replacement is always at the top of the list.  The wait is
just until you're the next customer being taken care of.  Once you're in
that seat, we make sure you've got a hoop you love.  That simple.  It could
occasionally slow down the line at some point in the future I suppose but
there's no way I'm ever going to make someone wait weeks for a repair no
matter when you ordered or how many orders we have waiting.

I hope that helps and I answered everything.  Sorry again for the delay in
responding but I try to take time to give full detailed responses and
sometimes it just takes a bit to get to every question.

Thanks again for your order!
Craig

I hope this will be helpful if anyone has the same questions that I had!

What is your repair/replacement costs? As far as cracks, etc. Or is it all covered under warranty?

Thank you thank you!
