Just wanted to say that some of my favorite hoopers are men. Eff that, you guy go, and you keep rockin' that hoop! Great post!

I freaking LOVE hooping and tell everyone I know I hoop, my profile photos on all my sites are hoop based, well...my facebook one has me in a Megadeth shirt playing guitar in a woolshed from 1995 but a hoop pic will replace it.
I started hooping cos the woman I am mad crushing on at the moment started and as I had a pretty big competitive streak I had to start too, since hooping I've lost the competitive streak, gained some freaking muscle tone - even as a martial artist I wasn't this toned - and generally a better, mellower person (still listen to the occasional metal album so am not full hippy....yet)
So yeah, hello, my name is Richie and I hoop.

Oh, one contact from my hometown said hooping was girly shit so I just shrugged and removed him as a contact....if my three kids, including my son, fully support my hoop-a-day habit then I don't need no close minded fool on my clock.
I love life in the circle.

I only know 2 other guy hoopers personally, & they are F_cking BADASSES. Like better than most of the girls I know. One of those guys is on here. His name is Adam Amis. That guy is a f_ucking ninja, one of the sickest hoopers I've ever seen. And as for getting shit from people about hooping as a guy, I was (& still am) the kid in school who wore all black with the painted fingernails & spikes & chains & tattoos & piercings who got enough shit from people as it was. People yell "freak!" at me if they see me walking down the road & call me a devil worshipper & the whole nine yards so having one more thing to get shit about from a bunch of assholes is of no concern to me. & I think the funniest thing is the whole thing where people think you're gay for being a guy hooper because since I started hooping I've made friends & regularly hang out with all these BEAUTIFUL women that are hoopers which was totally not my reason for taking up the hobby but is still a pretty awesome perk, so maybe the people saying you're gay are just jealous. Like seriously, the number of absolutely gorgeous girls I've met just over the last few months is ridiculous.

I gotta get my arse out there and meet more hoopers, male, female or extraterrestrial I don't care as long as I have a mate to jam with I'm all good, don't care what people think either, those who know me love that I'm content doing this, more than a few want to try cos I keep talking about it AND they get to see some wikked videos of some damn talented folk.
I didn't start hooping to meet or attract women either but being one of the few guys on a site with 6000+ hoopers.

Amen Brother!! I, as a fellow male hooper myself commend all guy hoopers!!!! WE are the ones that have the advantage because we ARE different!! as long as you can shake dem haters off.  Ive also worked at a flower shop for the past 4 years so even really before i started hooping got a taste of the world in that sense. Guys have such a different natural style than girls, and seems they tend to do more arm tricks. But thats the beauty of it, respecting each style as its own art. So to all guys out there, Shake dem haters off and hoop your face off!!!!

I tutor at a local independant music tutoring place and once each school break we have a week long band camp, which we call 'The Rock & Roll Circus' and this time, cos it's summer, I donated a (metal band) Nevermore CD to the student who could hoop the longest - none of them hooped before (no girls could make it to the summer camp so it was just The Boys this time)

I think I have given the winner the hooping bug as he hooped for ages before we started and kept hooping with my hoops after he won the CD...(he's a good little drummer too!)

Am proud of our students anyway but was especially proud of them today for giving it a go :o)
