I saw mention in another discussion of someone doing a vertical step through with one hand - catching the hoop on her knee so she could hold a drink while she did it.

Shortly thereafter I was with some hooping friends at a party and we all started trying to replicate this trick. I don't think any of us succeeded, but we had a blast trying it!

Which brings me to my question. Do you know any zany moves that might not be so standard/practical/showy, but are fun to try with your friends?

Can you post the link of the trick please? Thanks!
Couldn't find exactly the move Nick mentions but here's another of Sharna's foot wonders!

Oh sorry-- got my pages mixed up. I thought you were asking about a different trick.
i have tried a number of tricks with a drink in my hand.... i usually end up with beer streaming down my face/body :)
I had probably been hooping for about a month when this happened to me. I was showing off at a friends house and hooping with a beer in my hand...I dumped the entire beer on my head. Haha. I couldn't even help but laugh. It was great.
That's exactly what I did too! Showing off sure showed us :)
I will sometimes eat my breakfast or dinner, plate and fork and all, while I hoop. Good utitlity trick.

I think the most zany move I'm working on is a continual throw of alternating elbow throws. I usually get it to transfer once to the other elbow but getting it to go three or four times has only happened a handfull of times. Not reliably usuful with a fire hoop or LED hood performance but it gets a few oohs and ahhs in practice if I land it before failing too many times.
Hooping vertically on my bent knee always makes me giggle. Honestly, it seems pretty similar to what you're talking about with the step-through.

Trying to multi-hoop is always goofy, especially when drinks are involved.
My "parlor trick" is to do calligraphy while hooping. Haven't figured out a way to use my favorite dip pen without making a mess though, so I'm stuck with fountain or felt tips. And yes, my lettering is a bit wobblier than usual, but not really as bad as you'd think! I've also worked crosswords while hooping (I was once addicted to cryptic crosswords before I transferred ~99% of my compulsive behavior to hooping)!

I saw Mona aka Shpongledhoops do a vertical step through from vertical leg to vertical leg with NO HANDS-- in a vid, I'll see if I can dig it up-- frankly that one seems physically impossible, but somehow she did it!!
Here it is, at 2:20-- a continual step through with no hands-- still makes my jaw drop.

oh i want to do that...we need a tutorial STAT !
anyone ? is there anyone who can put one up?
I don't think I've seen anyone else do it, though it looks like something Brecken or Sharna Rose could probably pull off... really it seems fairly superhuman though!

You can even see Mona grinning after the move which is quite unusual for her, so I'm betting even she found it a tough one to master. (You know, that "Damn I really did it" grin-- I think we've all had it!)
