I think the one in the video is taped at the joints, so maybe I'll try that next time. So many creative ways they used it in the clip; I hadn't reviewed it before building it at the jam.

Hoopers, anyone interested in hooping on Parliament Hill this Saturday? Come down to the Ottawa International Drumming Festival http://ottawadrummingfestival.com/drum/. The Facebook event where you can invite friends is https://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?eid=231934713503822. There will be stage performances with drum circles in between. Come to the opening drum circle from 12:30 to 1:00 or hoop throughout the day when the drummers will be on stage or during the drum circles taking place approx. on the half hour for a half hour throughout the day.

Free Dovercourt Jams start again September 9, from  7-8:30 p.m., then on a bi-weekly schedule starting September 16.  Yay!

There’s also lots of beautiful weather left for outdoor hooping and other fun:

Poi in the park lessons with the talented Sophie 6:00 p.m. at Strathcona Park every Thursday $10/class, followed by a free flow jam, until mid October.

One more free Sunset Spin jam at Petrie Island this Sunday 7:00 p.m.

Orleans Hoopjam tomorrow! sorry for the short notice, but here's the details: Saroughi Martial Arts at 2616 10th Line Rd at Innes in Orleans is hosting its first ever hoopjam on Sunday, November 6th from 2-4 pm. It's a gigantic room with mirrors all around and padded floors for rolling around! It's FREE, I'll have hoops and tunes, and I'll be giving a free introduction to hooping class from 1-2 before the jam. Bring your friends. It's kid friendly, as long as the parent is hooping too. I hope you'll all come, it might be a great location for indoor jams over the winter!

Hoop jam at Dovercourt is back to its usual bi weekly schedule, 7-8:30 p.m. this Friday.  This jam has a Hawaiian theme! Come and spin some warmth into the cold Ottawa winter, and give Trish,our awesome jam hostess, a good send off for her hoop trip to Hawaii. :D

love it! and Trish derserves a fabulous time in the sun and surf with other hoop Goddesses. she IS an awesome jam hostess isn't she? we're lucky to have her, I hope she'll come back! I'll be there in a bikini - I'd better start grooming now..... and I hope they'll turn the heat up!

Okay, now with all this grooming talk, I have to post this. :D  It might give you some outfit ideas for the jam...lol

(warning,parental blah blah...there is profanity in this song, personal grooming references, and some hilarious merkins...it is Amanda Palmer, after all.)

Hoopjam this Friday night, Feb 3rd at Dovercourt! 7- 9ish pm. Trish, Brigitte and Sophie all have hoopgigs, so there's that much more floor space to fill, bring your friends! I'll have hoops + a playlist, but if you have music to share, please bring it on cd or ipod , we'd love to hear it. Maybe a little acroyoga play too....?
