Anne mentioned the twins workshop I'm doing at Dovercourt this Saturday Dec. 4, 1:30-3:30pm. There are still a few spaces. May people have been asking about hooping with 2 hoops, but aren't sure where to start and don't own a set of smaller, lighter hoops. I have some sets of 34" hoops for class use, as well as some sets for sale. I'll be bringing some minis to try out too; be prepared to chase them around the room! Contact me if you want to order anything custom (tstolte@sympatico.ca).

In this workshop, we'll start with the basics of hand hooping with two hoops and explore planes, timing, direction changes and progress to more dazzling moves like weaves, flowers & corkscrews.

This style of hooping is inspired by Poi, and in addition to Sophie's monthly workshops, Poi Master Nick Woolsey is coming to Ottawa on Sat Dec. 11 and Sun. Dec. 12 for 2 days of workshops at 2 different levels, plus an optional spin jam on Saturday night. Nick is an amazing poi spinner and an amazing teacher. Normally you would have to catch him in Bali or Costa Rica, so it's pretty exciting that he's coming to O-town! Details are on www.dovercourt.org and www.sirenhoops.com as well as Nick's site www. playpoi.com. Registration is via Dovercourt (online, by phone or in person).

Trish has organized a last minute workshop this Thursday given by Rebecca Halls from ihoopu. Please see details at www.sirenhoops.com. Way to go Trish!!

A follow up on Trish's Twins2 workshop today - Feb 20th - Trish is a master hoop teacher, and we're so lucky to have her share what she's learned. She's so articulate, and her workshops are so content rich, inspiring, fulfilling. I'll be going back to the handout over and over again, but for now I need to rest my brain from all that spinning. Thanks so much Trish, I can't wait to see what you'll be introducing to us next. All your personal exploration with the hoop, all the advanced training you've done at HoopCon over the years, it really shows in how professional and personal your hoop workshops are. I'm grateful you're my teacher and my friend.  I feel way more confident in the twins now!

I'm blushing. I only read this today. thank you so much for the kind words. I have so much to learn in the universe of the hoop, but I'm grateful that I can apply my brain's inclination to be analytical and the experience I've gained teaching fitness for so many years to this new passion of hooping. I'm thankful for opportunities to share it with others, and that we have such a keen community of hoopers.

I posted a few photos from the workshop. It's hard to take photos while teaching, so thank you Jenny for grabbing my camera & snapping some pics & some video.

Yes, Trish's workshop was great.  I'm still working through that wealth of information she shared with us on Sunday.  I'm looking forward to the hoop jam this Friday so that I have room to practice again.

Jenny, that cooler of ice you brought was so helpful.  I'm glad I had you counting 5 seconds for me, or I'd never have kept my hands in long enough! No bruises and my hands didn't hurt the next day.  Thanks!

Don't forget about two big workshops coming up at Dovercourt Recreation Centre in the next month! Space is limited, so register early.

I'm signed up for all three workshops. We are so lucky to have had all these great workshops in the last few months. Thanks Trish for organizing these!

I second that gratitude! I haven't made it out to all workshops but kudos has to be given to Trish for all her efforts and really helping in keeping the hoop community energized through what could have been a stagnent winter for allot of hoopers. Thanks to Jenni as well for keepin' it spirited in the east end with her jams. What a beautiful community we have here <3

I'm really excited for Sundays workshop and can't wait to see everyone!

For all that are coming, I would like to suggest bringing a pair of shorts to change into for the leg hooping. This will be especially beneficial if it is your first time taking the legs for a spin =)

See you all soon.

Just a quick and sincere THANK YOU to Shannon for her inspiring Below The Belt workshop - there were quite a few 'aha' yelps of joy and totally challenging content, well delivered. Take-away stuff to conquer in the next few weeks/months ?  Shann, you shone as a teacher today. Good work sista! If you didn't hear, Shannon's heading back west on Saturday, we were totally lucky to have her hoop presence this winter. More gratitude and best wishes to Miss Bliss! One more thing - it's totally inspiring to be in this group that has progressed so much in the hoop skillz dept. this last year. woohoo for EO Hoopers!
Shannon, that was a really helpful workshop. You did a great job! Thank you! You will be missed in our very active hoop community.
Thank you Shannon for the great workshop.  It's hard learning moves by oneself and you explained them so well that I had a few "aha" moments and went home feeling proud of myself.

Yes, thank you Shannon! Great workshop, and so much to keep working on. I've posted some photos from Sunday's workshop on www.sirenhoops.com so check it out. Perhaps I should have taken before & after shots of our legs (no bruises | bruises)!
