Hey friendly fosterers!!! I am excited to have found out about this group through a thread I read recently. I have so many thoughts spinning through my head lately about community and hooping and the like. One thing that I was starting to wonder about is hosing something for wOrld hOOp day this fall where I live here in Pittsburgh. My friend Erika and I started Pittsburgh's first hoop group late last summer and it's been growing every since :). (Steel City Hoop Union - http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pittsburgh-PA/Steel-City-Hoop-Union/2... )

I feel like it is going to be a special year for world hoop day! it's on 1O-1O-1O <--just lOOk at all thOse Os! OOoOo! I'm currently looking to just get some feedback and hope to inspire and spur one another on to creative activity for a successful event!! How can we expand the circles in our community? I am mainly just for getting ideas together for now. I'm excited that we don't have a Steeler game that day to steal our Steel City thunder that day! Gimme and H-U-L-A!

More info about world hoop day can be found here:

I'm thinking about experimenting with a friendly few rounds of hOOp scOtch (a little game I thought up, but haven't yet tried where everyone has to hoop while they play hop scotch, and there are hoops on the ground rather than markings). Also, I'm thinking hoop sculptures and hmmm... what else? I wonder where it should be as well? I sure hoop it's sunny and bright and a beautiful early fall day! Pattern making for costumes? Not sure what else. Of main concern right now would be establishing a venue. Let me know your thoughts! It'd be cool to plan together for our respective cities/locations!

lOve in the OOO.

I like your hoop hopscotch idea. I do that sort of thing w/kids. Another idea is sidewalk chalk - and use small hoops to trace circles.. circles are great inspiration for art/mandalas = creativity.
!!love it!! It can serve as a frame to create within!
That sounds fun!

I wonder if we could jointly plan similar events to take place in cities/towns across the country (and world!) on World Hoop Day.
that's the idea!!!
