Hi Hoopers!

We all know that hooping is great for the mind, body and soul but I find it interesting that so many non hoopers always ask how many calories it burns. I've read that it can burn up to 600 calories in an hour and I completely believe this! It's only a matter of minutes before my heart is racing as fast as it can go.

Have you lost any weight since beginning to hoop?

Share your story. Did you notice it happening in the beginning of your hooping or did it take awhile before it had an effect? Did you change your style of hooping before you noticed the change? Feel free to share before and after pictures to help inspire others and share advice on how to use hooping as a fitness activity.

I lost about 10 pounds; which is shocking since I was already pretty small! The biggest difference I've noticed is a change in my stamina for dancing and increased flexibility in my legs.

Much love,

awesome! good goin' girl... I'm still on mine too~ i'm sure telling the difference~ Hurrah!
Well, I can gladly say that so far... I'm at 11 pounds lost in about 6 weeks, and thats with some small diet adjustments (less sugary treats, less/no soda of any kind, and eating as whole and clean as often as I can). I hoop probably about 6-8 hours a week minimum. I've been working on adding in other forms of moving my body, yoga, strength training, elliptical.. to not only help with the weight loss goals, but help with my hooping performance abilities and stamina.
Hooping has so inspired me to be a better me. <3
I have absolutely noticed my face is thinner, and my arms, legs, and chest are becoming toned too!
Well I've only been hooping for 2 weeks, and I just weighed myself. I am very happy to say that for the first time in years, I am under 200 lbs! Before I started hooping I cut back on a lot of bad foods, and have been eating a lot more fruits and veggies. I'm just soooo excited, I had to tell someone :)
Outstanding! We're listening so keep posting your progress!

I'm losing my "stopped smoking" weight and have only a few more pounds to go. It's been progressively slow but I haven't focused on it. I just love hooping.
Oh yes, I have yet to stop smoking. I'm thinking about getting one of those electronic cigarettes for help, but i really need to be ready. I don't want to stop smoking for a month just to start up again because I wasn't ready. But congrats for having the will power, and hopefully those last few pounds aren't too hard!

I wasn't really expecting the weight loss, I just wanted to learn how to hoop. I fell in love with it and now I just can't stop! The weight loss is just an added benefit. There are so many things I never expected to happen from hooping. My back feel great, my posture is better, and I feel so confident about myself now.
my husband smokes the electronic cigarettes and they're great!  They're really helping him quiet, he bought the brand blu, I strongly recommend it...plus you can puff it anywhere cuz its vapor ;)
I started hooping last June and by that October, I lost 30 lbs.  But then I gained some of it back because of the holidays and I had a bunch of plays and stuff at school I had to do. but now I'm getting back into the swing of things and I can tell I'm getting smaller again.

Hello hoopers,

I'm 23 years old and I'm a 3 year recovering drug addict.  Ever since I quiet the heavy shit, I've always been about 10lb overweight,  nothing horrible but I never really had motivation to get rid of my recovering weight or really grow from my addiction.  Last summer was the first time I ever picked up a hoop.  I was going to mt. jam and my friend mentioned she wanted to try make hoops.  I made my first hoop and gave it a spin.  drop. tried again, drop.  i couldn't even keep a hoop up for 3 seconds, I felt so pathetic and helpless.  my friend left for work and left me outside with my hoop.  thats when something exploded in me, I became so determined to keep that damn hoop up. thats when my world expanded.  I went inside to youtube hooping and look for helpful tips, thats when i stumbled upon saFires videos! it changed everything...holy crap you can do that, wtf howd she do that?!?!?! I want to be able to do that! 0.0 so I went outside and before I knew it 4 hours went by and not only could I keep my hoop up but I could do a few basic tricks.  Since that day in June I have lost 15 lbs from hooping, and it was the first time in my life I had a washboard stomach, not only did it help me physically become healthier but ever day it gives me strength to over come the struggles of life, even my addiction.  It taught me I can do anything if I put my mind to it <3

Despite my best efforts, I have not lost any weight but I'm still extremely happy with what hooping has done for me. Although, i haven't lost any weight, I have lost several inches. I'm at the end of my junior year of high school and I can put on a pair shorts that fit loosely now but bairly fit me before I started my freshmen year.  I've noticed that I have gained muscle in my arms and today for the first time ever in my life I was able to pull myself onto the kitchen counter only using arm power. In elementary school P.E. they had these flexability tests they had us perform every now and then. Most of them I could never do but now I can. Having been obese my entire life these little accomplishments are miracles to me. But, these accomplishments are only extra goodies I get from hooping. The reason I hoop is because it makes me feel great and I can go for hours on end. As well, it has opened me up to whole new world of great people. Hula hooping has helped me find myself and the kind of person I want to be.
