Hellooooo!

I have a hooper who wants to bring hooping to her diabetics-who-love-to-move group. Does anyone have any info/experience combining hooping and diabetes? The biggest question is...

Hooping + diabetic pumps = safe?

I have a friend with a pump, he hoops all the time, says it doesn't bother him. Before I'm going to go teach a group with many bionic diabetics, I'd like to know more.  Insight? Links?

im diabetic and where a pump and it's totally safe! The hoop CAN rip the tubing out of your tummy(rare) but then again so many other things can and its very easy to fix Also, diabetics that have pumps go through "pump therapy" before they can where their pump so i'm sure they will know what to do if anything happened and it wont be the end of the world if the hoop ripped the tubing out. Also you can remove the pump to shower, swim, and other activities When you eat you set the pump to give you X amounts of units but besides that the pump only delivers a little bit of insulin every hour(i get half a unit every hour-not much) So realistically if you did an hour or 2 hoop jam with the pumpers then it wouldnt hurt them to take the pump off. Sometimes i wake up in the morning and my bed is soaked with insulin just from sleeping wrong. What I do is put my pump in my bra and keep the tubing taught so it wont get caught when i hoop. Its a great idea to get diabetics involved with hooping because being diabetic can cause you to be overweight and diabetics need exercise everyday but many diabetics feel fatigue every day due to complications with blood sugars and we all know hooping is exercise that doesnt really seem like exercise, at least not to me, its too much fun! haha. My advice to you is not to worry about it because every diabetic deals with their diabetes differently but most diabetic doctors or therapists will encourage diabetics not to let it get in the way and a lot of diabetics dont like to be treated different or "babied" because they have diabetes or where a pump. I am 26, i was diagnosed at 9, and i spent so much time embarrassed by the fact that i was diabetic and i used to not do a  lot of things(hiking, swimming, dancing, etc) because i thought that i couldnt but ive learned that there really isnt anything that i cant do because of my diabetes....except being an astronaut and going to the moon haha that was my dream when i was little and when i got diagnosed at 9 i think i was more worried about not being able to go to the moon one day than actually having to worry about giving myself syringes of insulin everyday, Oh to be a kid again! Message me if you have any other questions or specifics but my insight is just to hoop with them like your hooping with your friends, let them decide if they think its safe for them to hoop but I say yes it is safe and you should encourage more diabetics to hoop bc we need it!
ahhhh brilliant insight! Thank you!!

Did your friend bring hooping into her group? I'm curious to know if diabetics with pumps thought it got in the way or not. I hope it worked out well = )
