I don't know if you guys read NaturalNews.com or not, but Mike Adams has put out this interesting video that I wanted to share. He shows some black friday footage and talks about where that kind of behaviour comes from with the food and drugs so many consume and what we can expect in a time of economic collapse should we ever be without a food supply or money in the bank. Here is the link to watch it (it isn't too long):

Do you guys ever think about this kind of stuff? Are you doing anything for "preparedness"? Food storage, growing your own garden, herbal remedies, bug out bags, etc? Or is it of no concern for you?

My boyfriend and I often have discussions on these very topics - the economy, what the government is doing...oooh the list of things I could list that most of the world is oblivious to.... much of society are puppet followers and they don't even realize. I'm glad there's someone else out there interested in this!!
It's sad what the world is come to -- but awareness is important. We try to do what we can to keep a bit of food in storage for sure...and we have a small balcony garden in our apartment. How about yourself?

Permalink Reply by Shekinah on December 29, 2010 at 7:55pm I'm taking small steps, but I feel like that is better than nothing. I want to live my life not out of fear but practicality and using wisdom for whatever the future brings. So whether there's an economic collapse, an earth quake, or my husband loses his job, I want to have a ton of food storage that we are continually living off of and rotating to keep fresh. I got two canners for Christmas, and last year I planted my first garden in our back yard. This year we are going to expand it like crazy, and I'm going to learn as much as I can to can and preserve the food we grow.
We also have a little cupboard of emergency supplies, and I ordered a book on herbalism and natural remedies that could definitely help us in the event of crisis. I just want to learn learn learn.. I have come to see many examples where the government steps in as "rescue", and it's nothing helpful at all. I want to be able to rely on ourselves to provide for and defend our family should we ever need to. We will be living in our current city for maybe another year or two, and our long term plan is move to a small farm once my husband gets his work transfer to the area we want, and have chickens, goats, huge gardens, and I dream about having my house solar powered some day, but that might be a while, haha. Ooo and I did learn how to make and use a solar oven to cook food if we're ever without electricity :) Small steps, but you know. You gotta start somewhere!

have you ever heard or seen the movie "The Road" ? I believe it is either a showtime or hbo movie they aired a few weeks back. GREAT story line but they didnt indulge into any details very well in the movie. in the movie there is an apocalypse and it takes place after all the chaos. people become cannibals, and almost all the people are dead except a few survivors and a bunch of gangs of "bad guys" that go around stealing everything left, killing animals and people for food and pleasure. its crazy to think we wouldnt stand by one another in a time of need. but one there are way to many to even support in a time of need, and most already have that "each man for himself" attitude in todays society, and two there are those "hunters" in this world that do whatever it takes to survive - including murder and cannibalism.... is it weird or hypocritical that i think we should do away with those types of people and think world peace might by possible?
happy holidays :)

Permalink Reply by Vis on December 29, 2010 at 11:56am Yes, worthwhile editorial and info, my critique is that I believe that he only mentioned education once. An absence of education does play a part in peoples lack of decisions in the first place - decisions about whether or not to eat that, believe that, take that so-called remedy and so on. Here guys, have fluoride you don't need a pineal gland, here have some sugar, alcohol and cigarettes they're legal but don't go near this, that might expand your mind - it will really make you psychotic and so we've made it illegal - now get your butt into our recruiting place and sign up and serve!
I understand what he is saying but you have to add how do people get led into this in the first place (diet etc.)? I would offer that they are ill informed, yes, mis-informed. Slavery, just not as overt. My response is fight for education - an educational system?, well yeah but also for that elusive self-educating force. The paradigm shift at an individual level could promote one on a much greater level. This discussion is a part of that...to be continued...

Permalink Reply by Vis on December 29, 2010 at 5:13pm Ding-ding-ding! Right answer! Haha! You go K!, good one, damn straight, and it reminds me of the late Bill Hicks ~ "go back to sleep America, your government's in control!"

Permalink Reply by Vis on December 29, 2010 at 8:59pm Just to keep our ah, flow that's going here, schools don't worry me too too much. I think sometimes location might come into play but some teachers could be wonderful people for your kids - not all for sure but that experience is worth something too, along with the social experience for your kids even though it's not always easy (man, I love a good run on sentence). I'm sure a lot of teachers are right with us here, ya know. Additionally, you, like my parents when I was young, have an influence just by being themselves and caring. Really, so many just don't do a good job and that can be when the kids get sucked into what really worries me, and that is what I'd call the "garbage culture" which is essentially what is presented in the video that kimani linked us to!
Also, as far as preparedness is concerned - I'm not really sure yet, but I have seen a lot of very interesting alternatives with food, heating, power etc. (I recently and finally said NO to new york city after 22 years of a hard life and a lot of crap, to move back to western Mass, by the way) I have been interested in gobbling up a lot of the "good things" that the internet has to offer before they start trying to crack down on it - this is something I'm concerned with...I mean look at our conversation right now, you know -it's not wikileaks, but now that there has been one, there will be plans made to deaden this communication device which has thus far been like a kind of a wild west, only global...

I've brought it up to a few people in real life and on chat room right here on Hoop City and no one seems to believe me that this is possible. The governments and people in power do not like the internet -- because while a lot of crap goes on it -- people exchange ideas and learn things they do not want us to know...they don't want us to think for ourselves.
