I did pretty well with my February 2011 practice goal. I got so into practicing it every time that I kinda forgot it was a practice goal. I made a lot of progress with it in ways I couldn't have imagined. I can now do that vertical barrel roll with forward and backward footwork. Now to the next!

 

I think my goal for March will be the back roll with half turn into chest roll OR maybe I'll choose double chest rolls with twins. I can't decide. Here's what I'll do. Over the weekend, I'll practice them both and pick out which one I want to practice most.

spilts, splits, splits and splits!

As in what, Chi Chi?  Like actually doing the splits or hooping while you do the splits or working in split time or what?  LOL!  Details, please!

I want to work on hoop splits. Nearly there with 6 but need to sort out those pesky two on my chest. They need to be split better!

I'm still trying to get from a rising sun coming towards me  in my right hand to ducking right into it and either spinning towards the floor with it or just staying facing the sky once I ducked in.  It always ends up so vertical I can't maintain the angle and it gets all wonky.  I've seen the Spinsterz guy do it on a tutorial...he makes it look so easy!
I'm not sure I know that move. Can you post a link to that tutorial?

My February goals were -

 

My "regular" hoop goal is going to be two fold -

     1.  Be able to do 5 continuous vortex jump throughs 10 continuous regular jump throughs (from over the head in halo).

     2.  Be able to do 5 good across-the-chest passes in each direction (right to left and left to right).

 

My minis goal is also two fold -

     1.  To do a smooth forwards 3-beat weave.

     2.  Learn the low reel turn.

I did well!  I met my regular hoop goals, and my jump throughs are much better, as are the across-the-chest passes.  I'm still better at those going from right to left, but I really improved the left to right direction as well.

 

Regarding my mini hoop goals, I did get the 3BW down!  Yea!  That was a huge accomplishment for me.  It took me about a month of working on it, and I did experience some frustration, but in the end, I conquered the beast!  :)  The low reel turn?  Not so much. I got really frustrated with it and stopped working on it.  I'll return to it again when I have better feelings towards it!

 

So for March my goals are -

 

Regular Hoop -

 

1.  Smooth out my chest hooping in both directions.

2.  Become proficient and comfortable with leg/knee hooping in both directions and work on walking and moving around while leg hooping.

 

Mini Hoops -

 

1.  Smooth out my turning with weaving and master the 360 degree turn with weave.

2.  Master the split weave.


I like having two goals for both styles of hooping.  It's not so many that I lose focus, but it gives me some variety and allows me to switch focuses when I start getting frustrated with something.

Reverse direction shoulder hooping and jump thru without wonkyhoopitis are my main goals with kneeling whilst shoulder hooping being the bonus (sought after) prize.

Hoop splits seem to have taken over my life at the mo! Im spending all my hoop time on them!

I'm working on getting more consistent with my below the waist hooping.  I'm okay on the hips and thighs, but when it hits the knees and calves, it gets dicey.  But I have been able to bring it up from below my knees a few times (I have a video up to prove it), and I'm working on getting better at that.

hmm okay lets see i think i have two goals this month.

 i want to accomplish the behind the back toss and also have better segaways to each of my tricks. they dont flow together as well as i would like to so i want to work on that

Goals for March: 

1. Learn kickstarts with my beat up hoop.

2. Re-tape beat up hoop.

3. Vertical chest hooping in at least one direction.

If I have time, I'd also like to make a new hoop.  And I've started poi. (I used Caroleeena's directions for making your own sock poi.)  I'd like to get the windmill down in my weak direction this month.
