Hey y'all...Sorry I missed this ?. I know this is kind of 'after the fact', but I thought I should answer for future reference.

I wonder if we have, in some ways, discouraged the "non-participating" or spectator attendance. We have a limited amount of space and beds at the retreat center and have tried to fill primarily with full participants...hoopers. However, the Retreat Center is quite beautiful. It is 350 acres with a 2 acre lake. There's canoeing and trails to walk and ride. I think it could make a sweet retreat for someone if they're not interested in taking classes.

If your spouse spins staff, poi or other flow toys, then he/she would probably have a great time. Even if he/she wasn't interested in hoop classes, they'd probably be really inspired by all the movement. At Hoop Convergence, we have live music jams every night which are perfect for any spinner/dancer. And, there are some folks who come to HC who are poi spinners first...or at least really badass with other spinning arts. This year, we even have our first poi based class, Rainbow Michael's "Poi Yoga Fusion".

I see this event incorporating even more flow arts in the future, especially as I am personally finding the cross-training with other skill/flow toys complementing my hoop practice by offering new information to the body & general inspiration.
