Hoopers in Hawaii

I noticed there is a serious lack of Hawaii love on Hoop City. I am hoping as the hooping community in Hawaii grows, so will this group! There are quite a few who live on the outer islands, but we have very few on Oahu. I hope I can help change that!

Aloha Matej! I dont really check this website or group much, but if you are on facebook, we have a group called Hooping on Oahu, that is a little more frequented. We have a weekly meet up for hooping and all things circus/acro, there are directions to it posted just below in a comment. Feel free to email me at alli.vincent@gmail.com if you'd like to get in touch. I can't offer a place to stay, but you might be able to get connected with people via the facebook group since there are more people who check that one vs this one. Have you tried couchsurfing.com? Also, there are some cool backpacker hostels up on the north shore as well.

Aloha everyone who recently comment, sorry that I haven't checked this in a bit! I'd be happy to get you connected to the hoop happs! Unfortunately I'm rarely on hoop city, but I am often on Facebook. There is a group called hooping on oahu that you could join that has a lot of hoop events posted. My name is Allison Rae, though I've been told that I'm hard to find on fb, so you can also email me at alli.vincent@gmail.com.
There is a weekly sunset hoop jam on Sundays down past Waikiki on the way to the aquarium. 4ish to sundown. Also every Thursday night there is a fire jam at kakaako park amphitheater, 730ish to 945. There is usually a DJ, all flow artists are welcome, I LED hoop there a lot, as well as fire dancing. The next many weeks are going to be mellow due to them packing up shop for burning man. If you want to attend either event, hit me up and I'll give you better directions.

@Sarah: I hope you make it back to Big Eye! I really would love to live over there one day!

Come to Sunday hoop/circus jam! Sundays from 4:30ish to sundown, near queens beach. In the grass but beach side, between the first and second bathrooms when you're leaving Waikiki and headed towards diamond head. There are a bunch of palm trees that will have slack lines set up, plus there will be jugglers, acrobats, and of course hoopers!

Hello all! I have just moved back here to hawaii (home) a couple months ago. I went to school in San Francisco and mobbed hard in the dubstep/drum and bass scene in the bay area. Looking for someone chill to teach me to hoop. Always loved watching my friends hoop at shows but never had the balls to pick up a hoop and try it myself. Didnt have the space in my apartment and was shy. But i really wanna get the ball rolling. Are there any studio's or instructors here on island that could help me out?

Much appreciated

Emily Jane
