I was tagged for the May flow challenge, and as I am currently mesmerized by the amazing challenges and responses going on in Hooping.org's Hooping Idol competition, my choice for the May flow challenge is inspired by one of the Hooping Idol challenges.
Although all of the Hooping Idol challenges have produced amazed results, I was most amazed by the entries for the Persona Challenge. So here is the Hoop City May flow challenge, in the words of the Hooping Idol judges:
Bunny: "This week you are to become a fantasy hoop character or hooping hero.”
Sharna Rose: “Tell us a story using the hoop that is not your own. Bring us something imaginative and creative.”
Christabel Zamor: "You can embody an archetype, or take on the role of a god or goddess or mythical being. We want you to hoop dance whatever theme or story you represent. It’s time to truly step into a character and become it within the hoop!”
I can't wait to see your persona challenges videos!

Permalink Reply by Molly Miller (b0wieh00ps) on June 4, 2011 at 5:17pm Nnngh, I'm going to post this even though I think it's horribly embarassing. >.< There's some good stuff going on, but I never got a chance to work on it after filming this video. Sad really. :( This was nothing more than a jam session to give me ideas, but I really like the way most of it came out.
I am hooping in a really small space because it was too hot outside so the hoop is banging into things and flying out of my hands a lot. Sorry. :( Play nice, the beginning and ending are REALLY awkward. >.< My isolations look really weird too.
Oh, and as an afterthought, the song is Hope Rides Alone by The Protomen. I kind of become all of the characters, Dr. Light, Protoman, Wiley, and the people at some point or another instead of just playing one role. The costuming and makeup are supposed to be somewhat reminiscent of Protoman's costume though. The makeup was incomplete though. I couldn't find my black eyeshadow. :/ I was going to veil the upper half of my face, but I think it looks cool anyway.
Permalink Reply by Traci "CircularPraise" Bonney on June 4, 2011 at 6:26pm I've never heard of Protoman, but there's definitely some potential for visual story telling here. I think you should keep working on the project and post another video with full costume and all. :)
