I also wear jeans and long sleeve cotton shirts ... sometimes you just have to hoop in whatever you are wearing! I am in Ohio and it is cold now. I also agree that anything "grippy" is better than clothes that are "slippery". I never really noticed the differences in clothes before and now that I hoop, I am very aware of them. Skin is always best (expecially for thigh and shoulder hooping).
Celia, I've been using cotton/spandex blends for both my tops and pants. Of course, you'll see from my videos that I do most of my hooping indoors where the temp is less of an issue, but I find that a 90/10 or 95/5 blend of cotton to spandex (lycra) works well.
Diane, I'm not in Florida, but I know there are hoopers there. Have you checked the Southeastern Hoopers members list or run a seach on FL hoopers?
Anyone live in Florida? I will be there in the winter. I love to hoop at the beach. I am by Sarasota/Venice. They have some nice drum circles there.
Thanks Denise. I do the same as you, my problem is it's getting really cold out and most of the leggings I can find are full of lycra which seem to get slippery.
Celia, I usually use shorts and a tank, the hoop sticks to skin better and lets you move it up and down your body easier. Cotton works well too, if you prefer leggings or yoga pants.
Hi Gals,
Quick question for you: What do you wear when hooping?
Hi Diane! I am one of the "older" Hoopnotica Certified Instructors at 53 and loving it! Hooping will always keep me young at heart and physically fit!
Nice to meet you, Diane. Thanks for adding me as a friend. I'm over 60 and don't ever want to act my age.
Welcome to Hoop City and the group, Diane! None of us here act our age, so you'll feel right at home. ;)
Hello, I'm new here and looking to meet some new hoop friends over 40. Let's just say I'm over 50 and don't act my age or look it!
