I just got my first order to make several hoops for my dentist and his wife to give their staff for Christmas. Of course, being a gift they can't measure everyone for size. But I do know their heights. 'Several are 5'5" - 5'6". Surely there are some of you that height out there (I'm a shortie at almost 5') Would you please suggest what size you'd use for beginning hoopers 5'5" - 5'6"? I'll be using 3/4 inch tubing, 160psi. You're input will be very greatly appreciated!

i'm 5'-6" and i love the one's i make w/ a circumference of 10'-6" about 42" to 44" in diameter.
I'm 5'5". If they're all beginners go with 42-44 inches diameter. They can always be cut back 2 inches or more as they get better.
Big and heavy are easiest for beginners.
Thanks, browsing around I'm gathering that would be a good standard. I was just a little conficted because of my shortness. I started out with the basic measuring between the boobs and belly button which, for me, was only about 34" and worked out great. Right now I'm thinking of going with about 36" for the 2 people who are my height and 42" for the rest...
Hi Hoopaula,

I am 5'11''. I make approx. 40 in hoops using 3/4 160 psi. I measure out 126 inches of tubing and cut there. It makes about a 39-40 inch hoop. Virtually all my students are shorter than I am and all are able to hoop with that size.
I'm 5' 6½", and I started out with a Energy Hoop from Hoop Girl. They're 40", and I'm guess they're 3/4" - 1" tubing, 160 psi. Now I find it a bit heavy and clunky, but I still use it for certain things. It was perfect for me when I was just starting.
I am 5' 7" and I believe my first hoop was about 44 inches but after a couple of weeks I cut it down some...twice. It is still 42 inches but it is also a 100psi hoop. I made myself some 160psi hoops and I do like them around 40 inches. Sounds like you are already on the right track. Isn't making hoops fun?! lol
Yes, Suzanne, it is great fun! To boot, this is my first order and I am still reeling that someone is actually going to pay me to make them! I think I'm spending about all of it to build my stock for making more!
I am 5'10" I use a 42" hoop. I make most of mine in the 40-42 inch range, unless someone requests smaller. I think it is a good size for most beginners.I will make larger hoops for those who have trouble.
