Please share your favorite websites for mothers, kids, and families. I'm kind of out of the loop on this one, but I bet you mamas have some great suggestions!

I'm in the process of becoming a foster parent and although I don't have a child yet I've been doing alot of dreaming! The site I am happy to have found is www.familyfun.com. It really makes me look forward to all the fun I will have once we get placed!!!
Congratulations, Lealyn! These past couple months I've been blessed to befriend the mother of seven foster children! She's AMAZING....and her love and patience are an inspiration. I hope that you too are blessed.
I like www.todaysparent.com It has a whole bunch of parenting articles - is Canadian (for us canucks) - so the information on maternity leave/childcare subsidies is relavent to Canadians. But, generally, it is a wealth of information. There are also forums - but I got into it from the huge number of articles - on everything from parenting philosophy to breastfeeding to infant feeding and to school age needs as well.

The homeschooling forum is a wonderful forum for those who are homeschooling.
Fantastic site, Ishkara! I added it as an RSS feed on the Hoop Mamas main page.
I thought I would also post some excellent sites for breastfeeding. Dr. Jack Newman is a huge proponent of breastfeeding and has a pediatrics clinic dedicated solely to the establishment and maintenance of breastfeeding. It is located in Toronto, Canada. He does also provide a wealth of online information on the website. He provides the recipe for All Purpose Nipple Ointment (APNO) which has become the stuff of La Leche League's legends... Many women I have known have simply brought the recipe to their doctors in order to obtain a script - it can be used for yeast infections, mastitis or for any other nipple issue requiring an ointment.

This simply follows the breastfeeding help link on that page.

And this link (the video link from the main page) has some excellent videos on how to breastfeed and correct a latch - as well as highlighting various difficulties and how to help them.

Another awesome resource for breastfeeding information is

Kellymom.com.
Can't see this site mentioned.. I'm on justmommies.com which is a great site for trying to concive, pregnancy, mothering and losses, etc
really do recommend it, love it and it is very drama free compared to other mommy forums (baby gaga comes to mind..)
Forgot to add : kellymom.com is one of the greatest breastfeeding sites I have used during the time I breastfeed

www.babycenter.com (lots of moms and lots of different views)

Baby Gaga is a really interesting mommy site. It has it's ups and downs, but overall it is really awesome. It is especially great for support. If you have a preemie, or have lost a baby, or even if you are just having a bad day, you can rant and they won't eat you up.

This is my first post on Hoop City, lol. I saw this thread and had to put in my 2 cents, haha.
