I don't know any tricks, so I was wondering if there's any easier ones I could start with. I think there should a list of tricks somewhere...
Right now I'm trying to shoulder/chest hoop but it isn't really working out... It works for three or four rotations, then either starts to drop/lag or goes up to my neck and then starts to drop(I don't know how to neck hoop).
I can only hoop in one direction, which sucks as well.

Permalink Reply by Lindsay F on August 8, 2012 at 11:12am You are SO not alone, I feel the same way! I know very few tricks, but the first one I started with was the corkscrew. It took me awhile to get that down, but I do it all the time now :) I only hoop in one direction, too, the other current is too difficult right now.
Chest/shoulder hooping sucks for me, too. It's so hard. I just can't seem to get it. I've read all over the place to keep trying at it, but I think I'm going to put it to the side for now.

Permalink Reply by spiralroot on August 8, 2012 at 12:49pm I would start with halo.. get comfortable moving the hoop from from your waist to above your head into halo. I would say once you get that then try to work on the vortex. the vortex was one of the first things I learned to do.. and trust me it wasn't the whole vortex... just bringing it up was a big deal for me!! lol but the more you do it the more comfortable you'll get.
I know everyone is different but chest hooping and leg hooping were prob the two hardest things for me to learn.. or took the longest to learn I should say.
Good luck! youll get it!! :)
Permalink Reply by Shasta Lee on August 8, 2012 at 3:59pm Shoulder/chest hooping is difficult, don't get frustrated if it doesn't come easily. Try working with basic off the body moves on www.hoop-trix.com
Practice weaving the hoop in front of yourself. Get comfortable with both planes off of the body.
Don't get too bent out of shape if you can't learn 'tricks'. put some music on that you really enjoy and go with it and hopefully you learn something from that.

I agree have fun first, the tricks will come eventually. I've only been hooping for a few days, but I've been able to learn a few tricks by accident just dancing to the music :)

And it's not that I'm not having fun hooping, it's just I'm getting bored of doing the same thing every time
Shasta Lee, thanks so much for sharing that website, it is amazing, gonna keep me busy for a while! Shiko 777, since starting to hoop one year ago now I made sure every time I said I couldn't do a trick or move I ended the sentence with YET! To date, I cant do knee hooping yet. Keep that door open to believing. Dont worry it will all come to you the fact that others can do these tricks or moves is proof that it is possible. This is one of my favorite videos by SaFire, every time I see this it gives me inspiration and hope: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/nmEwVC9x-h4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
