What/who inspired you guys to start hooping?
For me, it was seeing a flyer for a local hoop group posted near where I live. I had never even heard of such a thing and decided to look it up. Unfortunatly, the hoop group had long been disbanded and I guess they just forgot to take down their fliers. =( But in my quest of trying to figure out what this whole hooping thing was about I found thousands of amazing videos online and I was completely fascinated.
I had always loved hula hooping as a child, and I could even do little tricks like spinning it on my arms or jumping through the hoop. I picked up my old flimsy kid's size hula hoop and started playing around with it, and it was even more fun than I remembered.
It was tough keeping the kid's hoop going around my waist though and that's when I realised...I'm gonna need a bigger hoop. O_O

for me it was kind of fate I think :-) The gym I belong to had put out the class schedule for the new month (this past September) and on it was a hoop class. That very same weekend I was at a party and a local group of fire dancers called Burn One (heehee) showed up and a girl started fire hooping. I was completely amazed and thought wouldn't it be cool if we learned stuff like that in the gym class! When I went to the first class we were standing around waiting for it to start and in walks the instructor...it was the fire hooper from the party! I've been obsessed ever since :-))) Luckily she also makes hoops so I was able to order one immediately and I practice every chance I get. She and I even get together outside of the gym and hoop and make hoops. I just made my first performance hoop, it's pink and black glitter tape with white pinstriping and a line of black gaff on the inside for grip. I named him Cheshire :-)
