welcome to hooping rachel!! love meeting other newbies,, I only been at it since May this year.  when I first started, I was using just a simple walmart toy hoop and my only concern was keeping it above my hips lol! after few weeks I got an adult sized (weighted) hoop and then really took off with learning tricks .  depending on what type of hoop u are using, it can make big difference in how difficult it is for you.  either way, just bonding with your hoop is my best advice, just picking it up everyday regardless what you are doing with it ;)

hoop noob coming through!hehe..i've had my hoop for about a month. My practice schedule isn't very consistent but i think i have some basic things down...I hoop in my bedroom, not much space admittedly...i want to go practice at the local park to have endless space-kinda afraid i'll make a fool of myself in public with my clumsiness

Im so frustrated!! I cannot get knee hooping. Everything else has come naturally, but ive been trying for two weeks to knee hoop and I can’t even get it to stay up. Ive watched the tutorials, and i get the concept, but the application is not working. help!

That's awesome! I naturally hoop left but I practice hooping right too every time :). Unfortunately I just missed the last class of the group I want to learn from(they're taking a summer break) so I'm just teaching myself. I just wish I had more room! I love the dance part too, I just have absolutely NO space to do it in! My apartment right now is pretty small :S.. I can take a step or two and that's pretty much it. I even have to be careful while hand hooping... if I accidentally bring it too high, I hit the light on the ceiling. Lol. Don't even get me started on the dangers of lasso. Haha!

Hey Bethany! I'm also new around here. I started hooping about a month ago too and I'm also loving it. I went to my first hooping class yesterday (with Baxter, in Carrboro, NC) and although it was a little intimidating at first it was a lot of fun. I'm working on doing more off body work, reverses and breaks, hooping in second current (or my non-natural direction), and trying to get more into the dance part of hoopdance. I think I've figured out one shoulder duck outs so that's pretty exciting.

Hi guys! I just started hooping a month ago and I love it! Just dancing around with it even without any tricks is so much fun :). (it comes really naturally to me so that helps) Right now I'm working on the vortex, moving with hand hooping and waist to neck/chest hooping! Hope everyone is having a blast!

i stop & go a lot, sometimes due to time and other times because i'm a noob and get frustrated :D but some of my close friends are great hoopers and it keeps me trying to get better @ it.

is it just me or are other hoopers having difficulties with the speed. like i think i'm looking ok-ish while i hoop but then when i watch the videos it looks like i am hooping in slow motion...
