I will begin teaching local hoop classes here in NYC starting Nov. 9th. This will be the first in a 6-class session. All classes, both Fundamental and Master levels, will be held on Tuesday evenings at the Brooklyn Lyceum on 4th Avenue, right next to the Union stop on the R train.
Another 6-week session class will begin on January 4th. I'll open registration for the next session in early November.
To kick off the session, I will host the very first Open Space Hoop Meditation Jam on Sunday, Nov. 7th from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, also at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Inspired by our weekly HoopPath jams back in Carrboro, NC, this jam will provide hoopers with a meditative space within which to explore hoop movement in supported solitude. The hoop space will be a strictly no-talking zone, ensuring that each hooper has the opportunity to enjoy her own uninterrupted hoop meditation. There *will* be ample space at the building's entrance for socializing, snacking, and skill-sharing. We ask $5 donation per person to go towards space rental. Extra hoops will be provided for beginners, and simple instruction will be available at no extra cost to those who need it. This is a community-wide jam open to ALL hoopers of ALL skill levels. There will be an table with information about several other classes and hoop events in the city. Community is the lifeblood of hoopdance.
I'm so excited to start teaching and jamming here! Please feel welcome to contact me anytime with *any* questions you might have about hooping in general, my approach, obtaining a hoop, etc. More than happy to provide resources of all kinds.
