So my boyfriend is really interested in learning how to spin mini hoops,so i want to make him a set for christmas. the only issue is that I'm not sure how large to make them. he doesn't spin full sized hoops at all which is fine, nothing about the full sized hoop interests him. but minis "i feel happy just holding them" is something hes said a couple times, and what ive seen, his isolations are so sick! And he doesn't realise it! so mini-hoopers, any advice? i was going to wrap them in hemp (something he would really dig, hes all about hemp) but what size should i make them, i spin 20" and those are definatly to small for him.

So what would you guys recomend? whats a good size mini hoop to start with and learn on when you have no background in hooping?

thanks a bunch :)

Well, my old LED minis are 20" made from 1" clear white LDPE tube, they are great for isolations and MANipulations
and my new one LED minis are 20" made from 3/4 clear white HDPE although iv not finished the circuit for them yet...

20" is just great for buzzsaw, any bigger and you cant really do that... although I think some guys prefer 24" cos they are a bit more visible, and id say use 30"++ if you want to body hoop with them ...

but if your going to make him some, then why not some 20 & some 25 and some 30 ???
i read somdwhere that you make the tubing as tall as you are. so i cut my tubing 5ft 4in and honestly it is my favorite pair. i had lots that were made from 5 ft and they are just not the same. i don't know the diameter. i personally like the 1/2 tubing. that feel right in my hands but i like hand spinning more than isolations. i's love to see the hemp wrap. i would like to try some fabric on my next hoop.
1/2" is a pretty standard size for minis, you might be able to do 3/4" if he has large hands. I think for actual diameter that the height rule is a great one because it usual correlates to the length of your arm and what is comfortable. I think a measurement for diameter might also be to measure from wrist to arm pit to get kind of an idea of how big he could take. You don't want them too large because then they are hard to work at the same time but not too small because they can be a bit flighty. Hope this helps!
i like 1/2 inch tubing as well, what im thinking is im going to somehow measure how tall my bf is and try to do it in a fashion that he wont know what im doing. and then make him a 1/2'' set and a 3/4" set. and ill definatly shair pics of the help wraped set (idk if ill have time to hemp wrap both sets, but the 1/2" ones will definatly be hemp wrapped). thanks so much for the help mini hoopers and happy spinning :)
