I've been hooping for about a month now but have advanced in my hoop skills with lots of practice and with help from my hooping friends. I probably wouldn't have advanced as far as i have without the helpful advice from so many people. As this group grows i hope that we all can be as willing to give whatever advice we may have to new hoopers to help them grow as many hoopers have done for me. My first advice is to never stop challenging yourself. Once you finally landed that trick you've been trying a week to do, try doing it in the other direction or use your other hand. I love Flow Challenges and suggest everyone should try to work toward trying one(no matter how old they are). And i'm sure we have all felt angry at ourselves for dropping the hoop or getting hit by it, it happens don't let it ruin your day, we are new to the circle and have many things to learn. SaFire's video makes me tear up every time :) I watch it often to keep up my motivation.
I love the hell out of that video. I think my fellow hooper said it best "It's good when the hoop falls or hits you, it means you're pushing yourself." Love the process. I've only been hooping a month or so myself, but have gotten pretty confident in knee hooping backrolls, off the body manipulations, and the vortex. I am just trying to really establish my flow and rhythm. I practice everyday even when I'm not noticing :) <3 Hooping!
i am still working on the vortex. i am trying so hard to get it to flow right. that's the hardest part! i am trying to find my personal rhythm still too. and i totally know what you mean when you say you practice without even noticing---i find myself doing the motions without my hoop all the time!
I do that too! My mum even laughed at me a little bit for wiggling around in the kitchen without a hoop :P

I'm having a hard time chesthooping.. i practise it everyday but i can't find the right rithem.. and i i think i've got it down the hoop starts slowing down and drops to my waist... Pfff..
Tips are welcome!

What trick are you struggling with?
I'm working on the 3 beat weave and flow, i plan on taking modern dance classes to work on my flow. I have rhythm but my movements are not fluid.
Hey Guys!  Bumping this thread for responses...someone below mentioned about chest hooping.  I tried it for the first time and it was pretty much a disaster.  I am endowed in that area but I don't want to allow that to be my excuse.  I have the hoopnotica dvd level 2 that gives a demonstration but sometimes you guys can say just the right thing that will click in my head/body and give me the 'ah ha' moment.  So share away tips and or share a video link...Thanks!
