Comment by Snowzilla of Flowlab.ca* on July 28, 2011 at 8:24pm Hey Shambhala-goers! Some tune-age for the long drive to Salmo next week! Tripnotic isn't just a kickass DJ but he's also married to a hooper. :)

Comment by Jeff D on July 26, 2011 at 5:29pm Tish, you're the bride so as far as I'm concerned you can make the rules. Nothing's set yet.
However... don't you think you'll be busy enough on Friday and not need more commitments? We can hoop wherever and whenever all weekend but if we try and get people together for a group event then we have a chance at a good turnout. If we do it on Saturday instead it'll give us an extra day to spread the word and more people will be around and not stuck waiting at the gate. Also, Pagoda opens on Friday to a 2 hour session by a flutist, which is not exactly my go-to hooping playlist (it might be for others).
How about this - we get people to show up at 4:30 or 5:00 at Pagoda. That way you can still see Adam Shaikh plays 3:30-5:00 at the Beach stage. Dekker opens the Pagoda from 4-5 and then Bassmint from 5-6. Plus you can use the hoop jam to round up hoopers for subsequent hoop attacks.
This is all kinda dorky I know but it'll be fun. We can advertise here, on facebook and on the Shamb forums.

Comment by Jeff D on July 25, 2011 at 4:05pm I'm sure it'll happen on an ad hoc basis, but I think it'd be fun to get as many hoopers together as possible, and so nobody has to worry about teaching beginners. Shambs is the biggest hoop convergence I've been to and I for one would like to see what 50 hoopers jammin out looks like. :) Plus all us hoopers could meet. We could create a facebook event or hand out little invite cards and/or clear it with the festival organizers.
How about after Amanda and Letisha's workshop? 4 on Saturday? If you guys aren't suffering from sun stroke by then :)
Pagoda would be the best, IMO. Plus the stage will just be starting up so the dance floor will be empty... PLUS! Tony Dekker will be playing Electro Funk, which is Awesome.
Labyrinth would be okay too. Adam Shaikh will be playing at the beach stage (Living Room) at that time.
