I'm not much into tarot since I can't read it and my friends don't either, but I've had some experiences with it. My mother gave me a dragon deck when I was younger, but sadly I've since lost it in moves. :( There was one point a couple of years ago where I was living with a SUPER spiritual guy and he introduced me to this amazing reader. I got a short reading once and I was like, "yeah that's cool I guess," but one day I had this crazy spontaneous desire to see her. I threw down for an 80 minute session and whew! I don't even remember what she said really (except that Kwan Yin is my goddess?), but it felt so good to do it. I felt at peace.

Another girl who comes from a lineage of fortune tellers really liked reading my cards because I was difficult to read, apparently. A lot of men in my life, a lot of optimism & good things but she couldn't make sense of a lot of it. Hehehe it was great fun!

Tarot, astro, all that I think is really helpful because it all makes you more self-aware. In what other aspect of your life do you get to be totally selfish and just embrace and love all these great things about yourself? And sometimes you need other people to tell you both how great you are, and how you can improve. But I'm a big believer in "love it or leave it," so if I don't agree I just ignore whatever the advice/tidbit was. :)

love that last line you said, i agree! i come from a lineage of gypsies as well, not in this life, but all my past lives. I know an amazing pyschic that helps me bring out my pyschic abilities. I only read my own cards, don't let anyone else, but im in for youuu, the otherpeople, i loveeee reading people cards and helping out humans in anyway i can. I can sense in you the veil.. even over the internet i would love you meet you one day and read your cards! your a gyspy's dream lol because you can't be fooled.. so we have to be straight up and right on with you or we'll completely doubt ourselves if you say " naaaa doesnt sound right"( esp me being a virgo) lol i'd be like gahhh fuck whats wrong with me!??? lol maybe not that extreme but my innerself would be.

do you feel like its helped you become a better person? knowing your an aries, getting your cards read, do you think without that youd be...more confused about yourself?

You can sense me in the veil? Haha, that's probably the nicest and most profound compliment I've ever gotten! :) If you ever make it out to Santa Cruz we should definitely hook up (hehehe I accidentally typed "hoop" up at first)!

I think to an extent astrology has helped me understand my potential in a lot of ways. The way astrologers tend to phrase a sign's personal strengths is really encouraging. Reading about yourself like that kind of inspires you to be the best you can. But it also helps you see possible shortcomings and correct for them. I don't know if I'd be more confused about myself, but there would have definitely been times in my life where, if it weren't for the reassurance tarot or astrology has given me, I would have had a harder time getting through them. Not sure if that makes sense....

no that makes perfect sense, thats exactly why i read mine, its helps you be the better person you know you want to me but sometimes cant articulate it in your thoughts, and if you go to burning man next year lets meet up and get daaahhhnn, we can hoop and i can read your cards! :) and dooood i always type hoop by accident for words hahah

Every once in a while I will have my cards read if I'm feeling like I want to hear a bit more in depth about what's going on and what to potentially expect or what's going for me. The thing about tarot is that your path is always changing and often times, if you know what to expect some will avoid doing things and then those cards don't mean anything anymore or else that's exactly what was meant to happen. I know that tarot doesn't tell you the future, it just gives insight and I like that sometimes. The best times for me are when I'm feeling peaceful and I am in touch with my inner light. My bf thinks it's silly to believe in anything but the subaudible or that everything is a sign, because that is what leads him, but I take it one step further. I did a 6 card spread today and got the Empress, the Tower, the Emperor, Justice, the Star, and then Judgement. I did my usual research into their meanings and my findings were interesting. I liked most of it. All readings are sensitive to the individual...

I think that people need to stop looking down on Tarot and Astrology. It's similar to being racist or against others religions. My town is so small minded. I can admit that it's easy to be skeptical when they are only cards and our society tells us that psychics and palm readers are all magic tricks and illusions, but...something about it makes me feel a stronger sense of being.

some people do make it a magic trick and a lie and play on peoples emotions and some people...wow, they are true to themselves. there IS a six sense and a fifth dimension, its the souls true reality, and real physics, myself included have the ability to tap into this and go forward to the "future" or back to the "past" I put these in quotes because past present and future are the same things.

and sometimes the tarot tells you something is going to happen so it WONT happen ya know, like what you said about reading your cards and it influenceing your decisions, well thats exactly what its doing. its just an insight and you make your judgement off it, but regardless if its "right" or "wrong" i dont believe in those words either, it is exactly what you were meant to hear, at the time, on your path. everything does happen for a reason, every little thing down to a sip of water you take, the universe doesnt mess up if it did, it would unmake reality, life is scripted, has already been written, by the "bigger picture" which duhhh is us! we are god, the bigger picture is not above us, it IS us, we wrote exactly what we wanted to happen. and its happening, right now :) exactly how we previously planned.

I have been wanting to purchase a Tarot deck for years, but just have never found a deck that resonated with me. I hope to get one soon and do a daily card read.

I agree with that I believe the universe speaks to us in different ways; tarot; songs; that "for fun" horoscope reading on the internet or in the newspaper; a special person you meet out of nowhere. I once read in a pagan studies book (Intro to Earth-based Religions by the Higginbothams) that you have an internal pager; you can decide whether you listen to a page from the universe or not. A great example they used was have you ever taken a different route home before? Not gone somewhere because you just didn't feel right? Not liked someone because of their negative energy? These are all pages from the universe. Whether or not you listen to them is your choice.

I think things like horoscopes, tarot, fortune cookies are all ways that we externally receive pages.

I also believe that things like knowing the moon/sun phases, knowing your sign and natal information, following the seasons, ect. are ways that we can connect with the natural cycles that our earth and universe rely on. Maybe this helps us become, not only in tune with ourselves, but more in tune with the natural wonders around us.

Metaphysics makes me all giddy :P

haha exactly i love how you put it, a page. In my favorite book conversations with god it explains it as, the thing in the corner of your eye that you thought you saw, but can't be sure... thats how faint our intution speaks to us, its up to you to know you saw it, or ignore it all together.

I agree with you on understanding your chart and your cycles. you should check out astro.com and sign up for an account, its amazingly accurate with awesome horoscopes, my favorite is the short report. and like we've discussed before, sometime your horoscope IS a warning, saying you are in danger of this or that, but only so you will be aware of it, avoid it, and not have to worry about what could of happened..

also some people dont understand that if they have a horoscope with lets say the moon trine mars, or close planets that means that it is a transit that you won't exactly feel, its a quick flutter that you may or may not notice which is why some people go " what? thats not how i feel? this is bullshit" lol but if its farther away plants pluto trine jupiter, its a longer stay, which means you will feel those affects

Wow, okay, I've enjoyed reading this thread so much. ^-^

So, tarot has effected me in so many ways it would be hard for me to list them all. My aunt taught me how to read when I was very young, somewhere between 5 and 10. When I was younger I never really thought much of it but now that I'm a little bit older I can make purpose of my skills. Whenever one of my friends comes to me with problems or insecurities I'll always do readings for them and try to help give guidance/clarify the situation.

Actually, recently there is this girl that sits next to me in one of my classes and one day when she walked in she had a very insecure aura about her. Never showing it on her face, but I could tell. So I offered to do a reading for her and she took me up on it. The cards just spoke to me so fluently on that reading and apparently they spoke to her too because she ended up pouring her heart out to me telling me about this rather serious situation she's in. I ended up doing a few choices readings for her after that and tried to help her as much as I could. In all honesty it felt (to me at least) like probably one of the most spiritual readings I've ever done to a point where it started effecting me emotionally. It also created the bond between her and I that started our friendship. :)

Oh! Also I wanted to say an interesting way that I use my cards sometimes and I wanted to know if anyone else has tried before. Well first, I'd like the say that I own a Shapeshifter deck and I looooove it, it's so beautiful and powerful. But a way that I use it is sometimes I'll take a card from the deck and use it in my meditations. For example if I was meditating on a current obstacle I would probably do it with The Gardens (equivalent to the Three of Pentacles: success, prosperity, pleasure), or if I was trying to get in touch with my spiritual guides then I would probably meditate with The Dreamer (It was an extra major arcana that is part of my deck and means: communication, metamorphosis, continuity, and prophecy). I don't know, I just thought it was a neat idea that I wanted to share. :)

tarot has helped guide me through a lot of things =)) what i love the most about reading cards is that almost always i know the right answer in my heart, and that card showing up in my readings is just the pushing guidance i need to confirm that that is indeed the right path for me. I am a very spiritual person, NOT religious in the least bit...so I look towards higher energies and guiding factors such as Buddhist principles 

so basically i hold tarot pretty high. i dont follow horoscopes because i think they're are usually bull. But I do like numerology as well
