Hello Spinning Witches! If you are interested in doing our monthly energy raising, please respond to this discussion!
If anyone has any thoughts on anything specific to raise energy for, add it here also.
We will raise energy for both dates, if interested.
Sorry for the briefness of this message, I'm teaching as I'm typing... yes, I truly am that talented ;)

Full Harvest Moon – October This is the full Moon that occurs closest to the autumn equinox. In two years out of three, the Harvest Moon comes in September, but in some years it occurs in October. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this Moon. Usually the full Moon rises an average of 50 minutes later each night, but for the few nights around the Harvest Moon, the Moon seems to rise at nearly the same time each night: just 25 to 30 minutes later across the U.S., and only 10 to 20 minutes later for much of Canada and Europe. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice the chief Indian staples are now ready for gathering. - from the farmers almanac

I have two very personal and specific energy-raising goals for the next few weeks.

I am profoundly saddened by the recent wave of suicides by young gay people who were bullied. I am a Girl Scout troop leader and teen mentor, and I would like to raise energy to send out to everyone who is struggling with hostility and violence in their homes and communities. The Plutonian energy of this season would be especially helpful to anyone contending with a bully and looking deep for the strength to prevail.

My other ritual will be in honor of my best friend, who died last December at the age of 39, two weeks after giving birth to her second son. Her name was Melenda. She was my partner in art; she inspired and encouraged me in everything I wrote or created with my hands. Since her death I have found it very difficult to create anything at all. This has been a stuck, lost year for me, and on Samhain I hope to honor her beautiful spirit and also begin to free myself from the weight of grief and inertia.
Wow. Thank you so much Joyce for sharing that with us all.
I think your idea of raising energy for in memory of the recent victims of suicide and for any who are suffering at the hands of others is a wonderful idea. I will definitely be doing that on the Full moon.
Also, as you will be doing, Samhain/ Halloween is the perfect time to raise energy for those who have passed on before us.
Blessed Be.

I was out spinning in the moonlight tonight! I also brought my crystal ball outside for charging and placed it in the center of the hoop on the ground. The pic is of the moon, seen through the crystal. Did anyone else get outside to spin under the moon?
I'm going out tonight to spin. I've been walking the dog in the moonlight every night this week. She (the moon) has really been beautiful lately. The nights have been very clear here. I hope it stays clear tonight!
Beautiful!
Sadly we had crazy heavy rain this last full moon so I only got about 2 minutes of hooping in. Still - better than none at all (-:
sorry i havent responded!! i really hope to get out this sunday and do some energy raising. i have quite a few sick people close to me and i have some personal goals that i would like to spin with intention to initiate. so hopefully i will be spinning with you ladies (in heart of course bc of the time difference, even though its been getting dark at 7, thats still 10 or 11 for most of you guys) this weekend!! peace and hoop blessings to you. oh, and sorry to hear about your loss, joyce!! ill keep both of your intentions with me.
Thanks everyone for posting. I am really looking forward to some alone time hooping. Unfortunately I didn't spin in the F.M. I just started taking a new med for depression and it wasn't working great. I'm on a new dose and I'm feeling better already so I'm going to be out there FOR SURE on Samhain. Hope that wasn't t.m.i for anyone :)
Bright Blessings to you all!
Hello lovely womyn :)

I'm pretty excited to have found this group! I am already part of a hearth, and had already been contemplating hoopdance as something to introduce to the group. I think I will start to bring it and explore raising energy with it for the circle.
Happy Samhain to all from Ottawa..
