There is light and dark in everything, and everyone. Good or evil is in the heart of the witch, not in her resources. I'm sure there is plenty of useful knowledge contained in the book, even if it's a giant description of what NOT to do. Only you know what your intentions are. If there's something you feel strongly about using for some purpose ask yourself if it's for the highest good. If you are still concerned: petition the universe/ the powers that be, before any working. Ask that they (the universe) and Divinity only use your working and energy if it's for a higher good and for your (or whatever/whomever you are working for) best interest.

The book has no power of it's own, it can not manifest, and has no conscious will to call it's own. The power comes from the energy of the person using it.

Knowledge is power, what you do with it is up to you.

thank you, i needed to hear that, i personally understand duality and the fact that i hold the intention and its always for the highest goal..ive been told by others maybe not to temper with it, but i shouldnt let their insecurities play into my actions. so thanks for refreshing my intuition<3

I agree with Saray, but if you have such strong negative or undecisive feelings with this book, I would not use it. Good or not, spells and intentions have a tendancy to pick up your inner vibe, how ever subtle they may be, whether you are feeding your spell with it or not. And there is a difference between dark and evil/bad. You can raise dark energy for things like self-examination and relating to the winter months (the dark time). Some pagans even consider things like creativity a "dark" characteristic. But, I would not recommend using it unless you feel 100% positive about it. Otherwise, I would think about either discussing it with a close teacher/elder or giving the book up completely. Just make sure it goes into the right hands and not to someone whom may use it in a negative way.

In my personal opinion, I would see no problem with reading the book and intaking as much knowledge of it as you can. Because in order to have excellent control over positive magicks, you must have the knowledge of darker ones. Now of course I would never recommend using dark magick but it isn't my place to tell you what to do with your knowledge.

The book sounds fascinating!
There is an old saying "When in doubt do nothing." The books not going anywhere - it will still be there when the time is right for you.
Remember to protect yourself if you do use it. Obvious I know, but even very experienced witches with decades of practice have been known to forget at times (-:
How are you with strange phenomena? Personally I can have the tendancy to be a scaredy cat and I have not yet over come that so there are areas of witchcraft I stay away from for the sake of common sense. This annoys me so much, but its a fact. Ive had a couple of ghost experiencies where gut reaction was to be scared and loose my composure slightly - and cause me to sleep with the lights on for 6 months afterwards lol! Ive had other ok experiencies too, but they seemed like nice spirits so its a huge difference. The racing heartbeat and sort of anxious feeling I felt with the others is not something I liked, especially for extended periods of time. I think if youre dealing with the posibility of negative entities you need to be very sure of yourself in case of the unexpected.
Do you know people with experience in this area?

I know exactly what you mean with being a bit frightened of some phenomena. A few months ago I had a run in with a demon/spirit that just didn't want to leave. At first I didn't know how to handle the situation. I mean, I have NEVER encountered and evil/bad spirit but it's still sometimes just confusing to deal with. >.<'

I agree with the responses. I see no problem with reading the book and absorbing the knowledge, as long as you follow the rules. Do not share name or information if that is requested, respect its pages and the information that they hold. Also if it's the book I'm thinking of, be sure to store or dispose of it properly and in a respectful manner. If you fear the knowledge, you may not yet be ready to tread into that territory and it sometimes may be best to wait until you feel strongest in spirit. But always keep in mind... There is dark, there is light, then there is grey.... "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law..."
